Has anyone here tried GorillaKits' MycoDRYER Vortex?

I am researching different dehydrators and came across this product by a company called GorillaKits. I've seen this company get some criticism for their overpriced "fully automated" grow kits, but this product seems much more reasonable. Has anyone tried it? What do you think? It goes for the same price as the Presto Dehydro and is significantly smaller, which is important for me as I live in a small apartment.
What do you think?

No heat = no go. Air can only dry so much depending on the RH of the room. It'll also be slower which if you're anal about potency means more time for psilocybin to oxidize. For around the same price you can get a food dehydrator that will. 1) Hold more. 2) Use a heating element to give you 160f. 3) Dry much dryer in less time.
Don't buy that.

The presto is going to be infinitely better than using a box filled with silica desiccant. You want to dry the fruits as quickly as possible to avoid potency loss and you need a heating element combined with some air flow to accomplish that.
It's kind of funny that in the product description they recommend you put your mushrooms in front of a fan on a paper towel for 24 hours prior to putting them in the box. Just keep them in front of the fan at that point lol it'll be faster.

It's a shoebox with a USB fan attached to it!? $4 for the fan and $1 for the box.... not too reasonable!
My crappiest dehydrator was around $40 and will dry mushrooms in about 6 hours with all four trays fully loaded. My big dehydrator was about $300 and takes the same amount of time, but will hold several pounds (wet) of mushrooms (and jerky!).

Thanks for talking me down folks. Ended up going with an $8 electric fan and some paper towels instead for now.

Stay awY from paper towels, cardboard works better. I'm not sure if you just went for a normal fan but you get cheap box fan/heaters with thermostat that you can set and they're cheap. Put all your mushrooms in a box and blow hot air into it.

Check your local Goodwill/thrift stores. People are always tossing food dehydrators. I copped a Nesco from ARC for $8 and it's been working wonders for months.

Fan drying will practically ruin your potency. Dehydrate them.

This sounds unlikely, but I'll hear you out. Why would that be the case?

The psilocybin breaks down in the presence of oxygen and water, the longer it's exposed to both, the less there is of it.
EDIT: Was reading some other threads on extraction and it looks like it's more of an enzymatic action rather than simple oxidation that breaks down the psilocybin. I might still be wrong, so take that with a grain of salt.

What about freeze drying? Does any have any experience with freeze drying?

Not practical to freeze dry. Dehydrators are commonly available and can be easily made if necessary.

I tried a homebrew freezdryer for making backpacking meals... forget about it unless you have access to a commercial unit. A regular dehydrator is fine unless you have some specialty needs. I have some dinners I dehydrated and vacuum packed 5 years ago that are still good, those were done with a $40 dehydrator and a $30 vacuum sealer
