Can a mushroom abort at any point of its maturity?

To keep it simple the title is pretty much what I’m wondering, for some context I’ll post my dilemma below.
So I haven’t grown boomers in a while and decided to give golden teachers a shot. I just went with a grow bag as a practice run, saw 2 pins starting about 2 weeks ago and switched to the fruit chamber. After switching both pins bruised, and I didn’t notice any growth on either for about 4 days. One aborted on picked back up and has been slowly growing for about a week and a half. I now have at least 15 actively growing mushrooms and 10 or 20 pins that look viable but the first fruit which is now the size of my index finger but twice as fat doesn’t seem to have been doing much for 2 days. Wasn’t sure if mushrooms could abort that far along or if growth has just slowed down as energy goes into newer fruits.

Did it turn black or look discolored? Otherwise, you should be fine.

Advice on the first post? Don't see that every day.
Moondigo, Got any pics of said fruit? That is a long long time for a cube to mature. But, as stated above, if it isn't getting funky, just wait it out.

Lol too true, Verum. I've been studying/lurking behind the shadows for about a year now but most definitely still a noob. Im looking to take things to the next level and I think engagement on the forums is necessary.
Moondingo, I agree with Verum. I would love to see a pic or any updates.

I ended up harvesting it. I had a couple that started after that specific one break their veils so i figured it probably wasnt going to get any bigger anyway. I’ll post some pics of my cake just for the sake of mushroom enthusiasm.

The second pic is what it looked like when I picked it. If anyone is still feeling like extending some knowledge that last pic has three darker caped boomers, think those aborted? Haven’t noticed much from them since yesterday. I definitely need to get better FAE going, I figured after this flush I’ll drill some holes while I’m soaking it. I read somewhere you don’t need holes with a cake but the aerial mycelium is telling a different story.

Yeah, I see a few aborts but I also see some nice fruits growing there. Some holes might dial it in. Were you just fanning the the cakes or have the lid cracked before? But Im definitely curious to see Verum's take on it.

Cant really argue, haven’t grown in over five years. Ended up only getting a quarter for the first flush. Last time I got like a half off the first flush but it got contaminated pretty quick. I think I need more air so tonight I gotta soak it and I’m going to get some holes drilled. Only the one big abort ended up weighing a whole gram. I wish I had time to just eat em when they were fresh, would have been more worth it. I got to earth two or three fresh and it definitely beat the high I got from the same amount dry,

A little bit of both. We had a couple big tree jobs when they first started fruiting so I was gone from 5 30 to seven every day The whole time they fruited so it was hard to properly manage them. The post I read saying you don’t need holes was probably by someone who had the time to fan properly.
