Basically it boils down to the fact I’ve made hundred of plates from a syringe at this point and have gotten 0 good rhizomorphic plates
In the past I feel like they were easy to find multiple which would let me test each
I’m using the same agar and same spores as the past so like could it be spores or my technique or something

I would say its your plates or the temperature etc... Rhizo is a growth phase that any cube mycelium seems capable of doing

Some pics of your best and worst plates would be helpful.

They usually take a transfer or two to start looking rhizomorphic. IME
Germ plates are usually very unorganized looking.
Not sure if you are taking any transfers or just giving up on the germs?

These two are straight from syringe

These are the best plates ive gotted , as you can see i got one plate with rhizomorphic growth right off a a spore solution but upon transferring that mycelium to another plate it would only cover half the plate in 2 weeks which is not strong mycellium growth i wanted to continue so i havent made it past a second plate since i got the syringe
So just to clarify theres no possibility its the spores and its just my techniques? which is honestly better cause technique is something i can change

huh, interesting. What strain is this?
Thanks for the pics. The last pic has some rhizo growth but even that is weak looking. I think your "weak spore" theory is legit. I would try a different strain or even a different vendor.
Id recommend doing a BRF agar next batch, maybe that will help. Ive heard that mycelium loves that BRF

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and buy whatever SSJ4 Goku Penis Envy x Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner spores from some stranger on the internet. Just very unlikely.
I don't see rhizo until the cultures transferred at least twice, unless the first transfer is allowed to grow out the plate but don't do that.

This is a b+ strain , ive gotten this same strain from the same company in the past and had wildly different results so im almost positive im going to try another vendor or strain

In my past experience it hasnt been difficult to get a great culture from one transfer after spores , granted i still do it atleast one more time to isolate normally i get it way way earlier which is why this is throwing me off so much

im having extreamly similar results from spores and then the first transfer starts being nice and rhizo.

i switched to putting yeast in my agar and suddenly strains that had never gone rhizo once over dozens of plates turned all beautiful and ropey.

I may need to try a different agar , when transfering couple questions , should i wait till it grows to the end ? what type of timeframe should that take? and if it takes a long time or stalls its not worth using right

When I got my first spores I was almost certain that they were bunk. Thought they weren’t capable of producing fruit. Turns out it was me. I still have that line going and it produces my most consistent flushes and most potent fruit (if friend trip reports count).
I’m not sure what mycelium looks like on a plate really matters, so long as it’s clean. That said, I’m jumping on this yeast bandwagon with my next batch because I too like jacking off to mycelium porn.
