Spraying SABs

Does it make more sense to turn my SAB upside down and spray down the walls and replace on my workspace and wait for a few mins or to spray from the arm holes and then wait a few?

Hey Ash good question. From my newb point of view. I think either ways work as long as you let things settle.
Don't forget the floor. And don't spray the ceiling too much that it drips down.
I've made so many mistakes. Feels like almost all of them.

I mean turning it over and spraying then turning it back just creates air flows. Your better off spraying through an arm hole and letting settle.

It may be time for me to get a smaller spray bottle. Just in case.
Trying to hustle the regular sized water sprayers into the sab must be pretty funny looking. Hah!

I just spray soapy water through one arm hole. Let it sit for a little then spray some rubbing alcohol through the same hole let sit for a little. Then I normally wipe the roof and walls with a iso paper towel.

For me it depends on how much stuff I have in my sab. If I have just some plates I'll spray into the sab.
If I have 7+ jars plus some plates I won't be able to spray my walls let alone the floor effectively so in that case I'll spray the sab first.
I'm always open to ideas and learning from anyone. Thanx for chiming in!

Imo I agree with Feasoghorm. Some of the really good people don't wear gloves or spray.
My sab holes are 6" circles.

i am not skilled at using a SAB yet, but i have forgotten to spray the inside with soapy water and clean with IPA once and i still had no problems. i do give my SAB about 20-30 minutes to settle though, sometimes more.
i doubt it really matters that much. i can think of pros and cons to both, but nothing major.

Hmmm, well I take a clean dish towel Get it wet in the sink, then I pour bleach onnit, wring it a few times to distribute the bleach, then wring it out. Then I wipe the SAB, rack, and table. Then I place the towel on the table, then rack, then SAB. Then I do other stuff like getting plates or jars, etc. I might even leave and come back later. Also I've been sticking a GoPro up and checking my technique.
Misc: 4. Bumped the SAB too much. = Random drops of contam. Stack books on top. 5. Moving too fast in the SAB creating breezes 6. wear gloves and mask, glasses, hat. Wipe gloves and arms w/iso. 7. Rack with damp cloth underneath

I do both. First with the SAB upside down, I lightly mist the top and sides with soapy water, then flip it over and set it down on my work surface. That ensures an even coating without any missed areas of the SAB itself. Then to treat the air inside the sab and at the same time wet down the table surface, I spray some more soapy water through the arm holes, aiming it upward and side to side so it gets the air really misty and drags any airborne particles down to the now wet table surface. Works great.

6" arm holes, no spray, no towel, but definitely gloves. Skin sheds loads of dead cells, oil, moisture, and whatever else is riding along. I don't want that right over the work.

No spray and no towels for me, but I also think that's highly variable. I feel spraying may even be detrimental in my case, as I live in a very dry, staticky climate. Seems to me spraying down the SAB will just reduce its static cling. I wear gloves, but I reuse the same pair of nitriles until they die. It's more of a ritual habit, hands shouldn't be over your work anyway.

Mushboy & ITP. I'm a fan of both your sab videos! Thank you for posting those.
Really informative thread & great to hear how everyone does things a little bit different.

I always set my SAB bottoms up and then sprayed Lysol by moving the aerosol bottle into the armholes, so as not to get moisture on the top surface, the viewpanel. Maybe I should just listen to Feasoghorm.
