I think either my growroom is so filthy from the carpet and dogs and constant mushrooms and contams that I’ve either reached the point where the air is half mold spores or I’ve somehow bred a super mold.
Last year I started getting a powdery green/grey mold on aborts after harvest, but the sub was fine it was just the tops of the aborts.
I’ve had two tubs in the past month now that grew mold either on top of the mushrooms or on top of the casing. I scraped the casing off and the tub went fine for another two weeks so again it was something that landed in there.
Fucking gross

Also idk why but Jalisco is just not in the cards for me. I’ve been messing with it part time for over a year now and can not get clean spawn. I tried a ton of stuff with the first plates I had and nothing worked so I went back to spores and got better plates but still can’t get spawn.
Every time it looks like this.

Get an ozone generator off Amazon, shit works amazingly. Just block off the vents/door cracks into the room and let it rip. It kills houseplants/pets/you though so yknow be careful. I was surprised it killed my Aloe Vera plant but delighted that between grows it seems to have eliminated all the mold spore that was causing me to run for the allergy meds/puffers.

i been using air purifier/sterilizer it uses UV light to kill mold spores and does not effect plants or any other living thing. removes dust, hair and sking particles from air using hepa filter also comes in cotton filter and active carbon filter.
and i donot have to take allergy meds anymore, and i can close my window finally and use a fan for FAE.
i had a out break of black mold came from a dish took over walls all gone in less than a week repainted and been using air purifier for a year now.

Josex said: Bacterial spawn may have compounded the problem but imo those 3 tubs look like they have a casing problem, good to see you're going to pasteurize from now on.
Also, watch out for velvety outgrowth on the caps that doesn't look like cube myc and stems spliting. Don't know why but tubs with a casing problem seem to be easy pray of lencacillium fungicola (a.k.a vert). Contaminated casing can also fuck with fruit development.
Here's some examples of what a bad casing can do. Usually don't take pics of failures so it's only a few, but I've had a lot of it from old casing material.

Yeah I know we strive to get least effort for best results but it seems like as far as using anything with peat it's best for that extra step and not be to lazy lol.
And I'm glad you took the time to find those extra pictures because that's exactly what some of the fruits look like. Extra confirmation of the casing being a big fault.
Thanks for taking the time to give examples, learning is why I always come back to this place. I dont think you've said anything that made me think you are full of shit. Anyone that has experienced something that they work with more than once and can give a reasonable explanation to why is good in my book.
Not to say that situation means they know everything but you've obviously put some thought into what you say and it shows. Even wikipedia says you're right Haha. It's the no nonsense approach of most TC's on here that I love most.

I did something a little more novel, maybe this will work with other cultures in the future.
i had a senescenced single sector dead(weak) penis envy culture; i had this for years and years and years -one day, i could not get this culture to fruit anymore -it even lost its rhizomorphic growth.
I also have a stellar single sector ape culture i love.. i paired both cultures together on a petri dish; it obviously went through a form a somatic fusion, clearly had no seperation zones of allo recognition. a third type of mycellium started shooting off from the original pairing. the dead pe culture started pinning on agar, i took several wedges of the new mycellium, and even a pin to new agar for growing.. i fruit it and it's nothing like the dead penis envy culture i originally had, and clearly isn't ape; i'm pretty confident this is a recombinant -all the science checks out. i used a special agar recipe to try to force this fusion, it includes a low nutrient recipe with another ingredient which try to mimic a fusogen.

Awesome tubs Mr Mushie, lookin good!
Those're nice RW starbones, hoping mine throw out thick fruits like that too, my friends are not a huge fan of how thin fruits dry into little twigs. You still running mostly Avery's? I'm excited to start em soon, real nice look to them.
Beautiful stuff as always trippleblack. Do you use that micro manipulator set up both to do crosses and to obtain single sector isolates? I'd seen some people in Cordyceps groups using something similar but didn't think anyone really used em with cubes, seems worthwhile if a bit expensive/learning curve, you're definitely posting the results to back it up though! Thanks for sharing.
On the topic of UV sterilizers, do ya'll think it's a lot more effective than just an air purifier? I got a decent air purifier running most of the time in the grow room but don't know if the HEPA actually catches all the mold spores and other such airborne shite. If you run an ozone generator you'd have to take out all the tubs and shit while it's going right? Or could you just tape em up.

So happy to be fully back in the game! I managed to resurrect a two years old rw lc jar too yeyy
Plus I think that PE print I recieved was actually a PE print? It give also many little thin mushrooms too... Some with very pointy caps, is it some hybrid or PE can do that?
