Hello!
First time grower and am very excited about this process as all the hard work seems to finally be paying off! Before I start my question, I just want to say that I've been Googling and searching this website for more information to a similar case but my Google Fu didn't seem to be enough to get some information so I wanted to see if the community can assist me.
I've got some fruiting going on, however I noticed today that I'm seeing some red looking mold starting to grow on the top layer.
Is this mold? Monilia? If this is mold, is there anyway to save this grow? Is it safe to eat the mushrooms that have already grown or do I need throw the whole thing out?
Only one shoebox has this, the other one does not. Here are the pictures of this

I'm still learning about contamination myself and that is most definitely some sort of mold. I can't identify it for you. From my research and personal experience you can never really save a grow from mold, just delay it.
As far as the shrooms go, the ones that have already grown are usually safe to eat as long as they don't have unusual smells, growths, or textures. Just don't go giving shrooms to strangers if they came from a contaminated grow. That's just not cool.
Sorry about your luck bro but at least you got some magic from it! Try again and good luck

Thanks for the info! Sucks that it got contaminated but it happens. Glad to at least confirm it's mold so I'll be salvaging what I can then tossing this thing out. I appreciate the information!

Im in the same boat, learning myself but yea thats mold mate. No way to save unfortantly but any fruits coming from it are fine. If youre really worried about it make tea instead of consuming the fungal matter.
