I’m pretty sure my new fim will work. It already had the tiny secondary growth starting when I cut it.

You guys ever transplant autos? I’ve read that it ruins them and that it makes them better

I haven’t noticed any shock or slowed growth from transplanting my other ones so I decided to run two autos. Started both in cups but moved one to a 2 gallon soon as the second leaves started.

The other is still in the little cup. Gonna wait for third node then go to one gallon then two.

It was super annoying to learn how much growth is slowed by using big pots right after I had two photos sprout in gallon pots. Even though that’s not very big they still didn’t grow forever while the roots spread.

i always plant my autos in there forever home. usually 4gal fabric pot. ive been trying 2gal fabric pots but i havent had a harvest in them yet. ive noticed , even on my big autos, the roots rarely extend to the bottom of my 4 gallon pots.
i do alot of stuff to my autos your not supposed to do. as long as its a strong plant and healthy, and your gentle , the transplant should go fine without much shock or stress.
they only say that because autoflowering cannabis has a set timeline. so if you stress her out for a week or 2, thats alot of the timeline and can fuck up yields.

you have to just be careful watering a small plant in a big container. they dont need the whole pot soaked ya know. thats how ppl stunt them too. overwatering.
i dont do much transplanting for my girls. i most always go from seed to forever home. 2, 3, 4, 5 gallon fabric pots. i choose one and keep it there till harvest.

here are my plant updates

wow, banzai!
This one looks like it might turn purply when it buds, if it lives, if it's a female, lol. I should get at least one female out of 4 plants.

Man idk how you get such fat stalks.  How old are the plants in the first two pictures?

Mine are way behind since I didn’t know what I was doing but now they’re moving pretty quick and actually starting to look decent. So stoked to finally be getting bud sites to train up.

I’m liking super cropping so far.  You can untie it after a week or so and it makes the plant stronger. This one finally got a knuckle started so I tied down the top again. It looks crazy lol. I’m gonna try and get it circle all the way around but I’ll prob end up just super cropping it instead of lst.

I'm also curious about that stem girth. How are they so thick?

They are 8 weeks old. They vegged for 6 weeks. I dont know. Genetics, nutrients, & light.
They are both Barneys farm genetics

My Barney's farm genetics always show that kind of stem and leaf as well. They got some good genetics for sure. The leaves on my BF plants always look like the girls have no problem taking up silica whatsoever.. Strong healthy girls usually.

I like :piggy: a lot but their seed is expensive especially counting how many seeds have been bunk by now. I've had strains where 0 seeds have germinated. Sour Livers is one. I still have 1 seed out of 3 left in the soil but the other 2 shit out on me, and some other strains of them have done likewise.. When they do boom though, they REALLY boom, with crazy intense smells n tastes

Supposedly you can get 3-6 or some people claimed 8 or 9 main shoots instead of 2 from topping. Also it’s supposed to make it bush out more than topping too. Lotta big claims with fimming lol.

I just topped that failed fim plant.

I did try a new fim on a different one and cut it as low as possible. Instead of a little tuft of leaves it’s kinda just four stem nubs this time.

What I don’t get is every fim guide I check looks exactly like mine. It’s like the plant just decided not to cooperate lol.

You can get a lot of tops if you top them twice. But you need to space them at least a month apart, and if outdoors don't top after very early July.

do your nutrients have much to do with the thick stalks by chance?? i’ve noticed my hydro plant is waaaaaay thicker than her sister clones in soil. i’m just using fox farm trio for the soil but advanced nutrients & some other shit for the hydro

yeah i would say certain micronutrients like silica make stems thicker.

all of the barneys farms seeds ive tried to sprout so far was 2 dos si dos 33 (both hatched), gorilla zkittlez auto (hatched), and the mimosa evo (hatched). so far i have had 100% germination rates with there seeds. i would contact them if you had failed seeds. im sure they would help.

It's not BF seeds that have failed germination, it's mephisto's.

Is silica worth getting?

For coco I’m just using calmag and the GH Flora trio.

I also realized the other day that I totally misread the ppm/EC stuff and had been feeding way over the recommended amount. Early veg was 770ppm. Plant seems to love it though.

Soil is usually rich in silica and coco has virtually none, so if you use coco it's recommended to use a silica supplement.

I was gonna say just that, silica is important to your plant, but as long as you got some true soil in there, not just soilless potting mixes, you will probably never ever need to supplement with it...

I had yard dirt in a big pot for the last 3.5 years leaching anything out that might have been in it. I saved it form the landscaping job on our yard. I might feed them some blooming food for a few weeks when they start to bud, I'm open to simple suggestions. I like to keep it simple. I don't need to try and force huge buds etc...
Here's my last grow back in 2015. Got 5oz's of bud and 2 oz's of shake off one plant. Karmaceuticals seed. It was grown in a 12in pot on the balcony (in and outside). My current plants are getting direct sun from 8am until about 6-7 maybe even 8pm in summer

The one with the three colas looks like it’s got serious potential. I’d be cloning a ton for sure lol.

What strain?

And how far away can you smell those things outside??

I finally made some training progress. Sooo much better now that I’m past the sitting around watching seedlings grow roots part

Just random seed from karmaceuticals back in 2015, one plant. The new ones are some shwag seed and one plant is from a seed I found in an eighth, forgot the name, but it was good. I'm not into names or strains in particular, I do seem to like sativas more. I'm in CO so I don't have to worry about height or being outside, plus I'm not fucking with a plant that much to train it. You've done a great job of it though. I like the weed I grow to be as natural as can be.

Ok so I think my second fim attempt worked. This time it was cut low enough that the fan leaves on one node got cut off before I could even see them starting, there’s just a little stump.

What do you guys think, did it work this time?

It almost looks like there could be 5 mains now if the middle one and the shoots on the two nodes keep going.

Current things

Females: C99, Colorado Meds, Blue Lemons F1, Great Unknown F1.

Males: Great Unknown

I made the Blue Lemons and Great Unkown.

Blue Lemons = (Harlequin x Blue Heron V2) x Lemon Lotus
Great Unknown = (Tigermelon2 x Sunshine Daydream) x Appalachian Super Skunk
I only got 12 seeds of Great Unknown from last years pollination and I have two keeper males that I am flowering out to harvest some pollen for a F2 cross.

Here's some shots from last years outdoor. It was my first outdoor run where I actually made a effort to grow good plants, I had some serious aphid issues at the end of flower and also I flowered 9-10 week strains outdoors in my area which is kind of hard. This year I am going with all Papaya clones and not seeds. The Papaya cut I have finishes in 48-55 days and has minimal stretch.

Lemon Lotus

TigerShine (Tigermelon2 x Sunshine Daydream)
