German Drug laws
    #2729773 - 05/25/04 10:44 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I'm doing an exchange program to Germany next year, and i can't find any information on the drug laws in Germany. I find it highly doubtful that weed and/or mushrooms would be legal there. So if you know anything about it, please let me know.

I smoked weed in 3 seperate coffee shops (not the weed kind) in Berlin two years ago. The laws seemed to be pretty lax.

Drugs are illegal all over Europe but the police usually tolerates small quantities intended for personal use. The problem is that the drug politics differs from city to city.

It is still completely illegal but usually ignored, but this does very greatly depending on which area you live in. You're best off finding out while you live there from the locals than from the internet.

Officially, since they obide by the same UN drug conventions, they pretty much have the same drug laws we do. In practice,I've heard they're more tolerant towards recreational drug use though. Don't expect to wave around drugs and not be arrested though. It's just a cultural trait.

You can always drive to Switzerland, where weed is practically legal.
