Hey I am new to mushroom hunting but I have tripped before in the past, and I am also a Georgia hunter. Please forgive me if I do something wrong, but I wanted to ask a few questions if that is okay. I wanted to ask which type of habitats were you able to find these mushrooms, I had been looking for a while and have been unable to find them. Is there any tips to help identify these mushrooms from other mushroom species, and when is the best time to go hunting? Any response is appreciated!

Just kidding with the above but... first time poster ... anyways, check out the official ga actives threads from previous years. Tons of knowledge and answers to your questions.

Welcome Rod, Normally its still ok to do that even if rules say its this or that. PPl know there ar folks jondsing to find shrooms. We love you and want you so search hard and find the holy medicine. Where about GA u in County? Im in Gwinnett. Yes learn to use the search function. Also on the main website there are guides and location for each kinf of statee other than that, search g actives and search arounc this time last years and see what was happening its been too dry lately and not enough rain for there to be active weiliis out but with this rain cow pastures nearby are sure to have cubes not the best answer you want to hear unfortunately

You missed morel seson and weilii season will be back fall the weiliiis that is.

Like 9 days ago when the dude with the dog wearing the hat found those "Scragglers" THAT GUY WAS THE #$@#&#^%$ GOAT for being able to find those so late in the game. So its been dying down 2 or 3 weeks before 9 days ago.

Idk about you guys, but i haven't really seen lacrymaria out nearly as much as i had last year around this time and even early/mid april.
I've gotten over 5 inches of rain by me over last 48 hours. If we dont get any weiliis popping up after this, lack of agua clearly wont be the issue.

And ditto what bf and tiger strike said. Also ill check to see if i can find ghosty's mini GA psilocybe guide from last year.

The guy with the dog hat is the best picker out here this year. He found the last weilii 10 days ago within 1000 miles and he is still out picking like they are coming back during this heat. That's the dedication that it takes to be the master picker, Grasshopper 1 post new guy from few posts ago.

The ovoid seasons is winding down, but the caerulescens season is about to be popping.  The wild home patch mycelium is growing and chomping down pine needles, sticks, grass mulch, and blackberry stalks as we speak!!!  :sporedrop::sporedrop::dancer:

In gandaffs. voice You think this my first time? since oh twenty? In this forum that I am able to claim a champion and call the stop of weilii and the start of weilii and taste of LAcramarya lacarmundia? I have been here many moons longer than that number and that is not an accurate representational of my watching this ga actives through the last 6 years. and longer. Also a late season finder myself. Also I am hoping my shit talking is gonna prove me wrong and someone is gonna find baby pinners deep in a secret spot and be like SEEEE ITS POSSIBLE TO FINE THE YEAR ROUND (MUhwhahnaanhahahanahana. Laugs crazy and needs to be carreid off.)

Yeah I also live in Gwinnett County. Is it possible for psilocybe weilii to fruit this time of year? If it does any tips to help find them? I have been looking around pine needles around pine trees for a while and in my area it has rained for the past two days. Is there any advice to give me for hunting in the spring.

Welcome Rodi, You are are in the right place. Start reading years past and see when they started and stopped popping up and around! It is possible to find them but i think you have to be right on top of a mother of a cluster able to fruit in this heat and probably would only find pinners under leaves. Super hard to find this time of year. BUT POSSIBLE!!. They don;t really like the heat.

In this heat? What heat?

This temperature is perfect for caerulescens, it’s just a bit early

Did you read any of the responses to your first post Rodi? These questions can easily be answered with a quick search.
I also already PM'd you a guide you can follow in the mean time while you're researching a little more for yourself.

Temps are far from being too high. They fruit just fine in the heat
