I just found a new mold possibly the grossest one yet.

It’s like green wool.

Tell us more about Doc's Wild Cube? Those are smooth AF. You need to do everyone a solid and just eat that first flush right now and tell us how it went tomorrow. Or Next week.

They're just cubes from Florida that were printed by doc and sent out to a few people. I have some on grain that are getting expanded today.

might g2g the left fella when it's done colonizing I'm thinking some of my recent failures with contamination might be jumping the gun on a "fully colonized" jar going to add 3+ days to let the nonvisible grains fully colonize when id otherwise deem it to be done

The mycelium looks healthy, but the grains look on the dry side. Might add more boil to your prep on the next batch.

thanks for the insight I was under the impression you couldn't go too dry after boiling them, is that false? I usually boil for 25-35min, usually closer to 25 than 35, and let cool/dry overnight then fill jars a pc in the morning
EDIT: read your oat tek, gonna be following that to the T next time around

You can get them to dry. If I'm letting oats dry overnight I'll throw them in the fridge to keep some moisture. You will wanna go dryer if using bags though, IMO.

after 5 years in the hobby, doing it very small-scale on and off, i've poured and inoculated my first sets of agar this week. I feel like an adult that was kept back in high-school for several years lol.
zero signs of contam so far on any plate from 05/02, keeping my fingers crossed.
Only one of the strains are taking off so far, swabbed off a print i had.
the other print spores are still germinating with no signs of myc, and spore syringe dishes got the water all messy on the surface. I just got my inoc. loops in- im assuming the dishes wont be a watery mess if i streak in the future?

First time dealing with such uneven flushes which I figured I would have run into earlier in my cultivating history but here we are. Not something I was expecting from this clone. Still pooping out new pins. For a sense of scale to the more mature fruits this is an 84qt monotub.

Holy shit those cakes are sexy. They just look super potent too.
I think if I hadn’t recased I would’ve had an awesome first flush instead of half buried weirdness, but in any case there’s some fat ones in there and the stage is set for an awesome second flush.

I really want to clone that fat round one but I just have so much going already.

Another indoor weraroa experiment. The subsecotioides is colonizing this coir just fine. Time will tell if it'll ever pin and fruit though.

Lol yeah and then to the right of the big one there’s the one that looks like it’s mooning you.
The casing thing was just this culture being weird. It colonized the casing quick so I added another layer which is normal. But then the first layer started pinning underneath even though the top was super fluffy with no knots. I think a lot of the pins aborted and are buried in there. I can’t wait to harvest this and see what’s going on inside.
