If you can't use a CNC....
    #27292014 - 05/03/21 01:02 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I haven't had any luck finding someone to run my flowhood pieces on a CNC, so I'm looking for the next best option. I have access to a full shop. Is a table saw going to be the most accurate/straight cutting option outside of a CNC?

What are you doing? And yes a legit table saw like a cabinet maker would use will make cuts as good as anything.

You mean your plywood? Hit up a cabinet shop if you want stuff to be right on the money.

So like I was saying in the OP...

I am in the process of building a flow hood. The cabinet makers I have reached out to are either uninterested in the job or quoting me at $300+. So now I'm just wondering if I can get it close enough with a good table saw.

No one uses cnc to make a homemade flowhood lol. Everyone uses a table saw or skill saw.

I know. I can see it in most of the final products on display. Fuck it. It's a big city. I'm gonna keep shopping until I find the right price.

99% of the worlds wood products are made with something other than CNC. Any decent table saw can do tolerances well under .050" ( too small to see on a panel, and won't leave a gap).

You're going to seal it with caulk anyway, I hope? It's not like you're going to get an airtight fit with a CNC either lmao.

With a steady hand and a bit of sanding you could do it with a jigsaw I'm sure.

I had the guy at home depot cut it all from a single sheet. It wouldn't have fit in my car any other way.

You aren't kidding... 70 bucks for a sheet of construction grade 19/32.  I don't even want to think about what cabinet grade costs... *shivers *
