Is it safe to use this window screen for a custom dehydrator?

I believe it's made of fiberglass with an epoxy resin? Just wanted to know if it's safe to use this stuff for dehydrating shrooms. Food safety and all that!

FWIW I already have a 10-tray dehydrator. But I'm doing a big operation now and gearing up to dry 5-10lbs at a time, so a small 10-tray dehydrator won't do. SO I'm building an epic custom dehydrator with a space heater and figuring out the screens for it now. I'm just not sure if dehydrating them on those window screens are safe since people are going to be eating that stuff.

From what I've found it seems that fiberglass and aluminum and galvanized steel are not good options. The best option seems to be stainless steel. Unfortunately it seems hardware cloth only comes in galvanized steel. This is proving harder than I thought to find the ideal product/roll to make mesh screens out of stainless steel.

Could I ask you why you think it's fine? I'm sure nobody would know they're eating toxic chemicals with their shrooms, but I'm trying to do the right thing and have it be as toxic free as possible.

What I meant was that I used to use trays with a fiberglass mesh for my custom dehydrator, they work fine if you build them a wood frame.
I don't know why you think it will leak chemicals to the shrooms. It's not like you're gonna put the fiberglass and the shrooms in a pot and boil them together.

Well, it's not in a pot of boiling water... but be sitting on them in a 120-150F environment for 12 hours+. If there was no heat involved I wouldn't care, but it's the heat and duration that makes me concerned.

I wouldn't worry but you don't want to fuck with your peace of mind, it's not good for your mental health. Def don't use fiberglass.

If you’re worried about fiberglass they have stainless steel mesh options. https://www.amazon.com/Mesh-Wire-Cloth-Stainless-Steel/s?keywords=Mesh+%26+Wire+Cloth&rh=n%3A6469724011%2Cp_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A5485702011&c=ts&ts_id=6469724011 Just use one of them. Not that bad of a price especially if your drying that much if you know what I mean.

I use fiberglass windowscreen to line my dehydrator trays so the small pieces don't fall through - they work great and don't contaminate anything. If you have odd shaped dehydrator trays I would encourage the use of a cardboard or thin plastic jig and use it to mark/cut the screens from.
