Petri Notation
    #27291777 - 05/03/21 12:08 PM (2 days, 21 hours ago)

Hey everyone,

I tried a couple of times to use the search function so don't put me on blast for asking

I'm playing around with strain isolation; down to the last syringe of my chosen species and I was thinking about trying to isolate 3-4 aggressive strains for future fun.

I can't seem to find much about proper petri notation...

I kinda ad-hoc'd my own version on the fly but I'd like to use proper notation as I'm sure there's a developed technique and science behind it which will help me in my efforts.

Can you guys link me in the right direction or educate me here on proper petri notation?

I think most people just use the name of the species/strain, the date, the transfer (T0, T1, T2...) and some people like to color code their petris and/or use a marker to make one or many lines vertically down a stack of petris so they know which petri belongs to which pile, and only have to write on the topmost plate.

If I think I messed up a petri because of my sterile technique or a bad  pour (happens a lot, since I've only poured about 40 plates total) I put a little trinagle on it.

I use T for the transfer and F if I have multiple cultures of the same name that I am isoltaing further.
