Anyone tried these in place of glad rounds and the ziploc brands?
I believe they will have a lot longer life span, the lids always became loose after a few uses when using the glad and ziploc containers. The new ones have a sturdy screw on lid, no more accidents when picking them up and the dang lids come off. I'm in 2 4pks so far, so let me know if you have any cons on this product. Yes, they are pp5. I know they will work butI want to hear any issues that you have with them, I don't want to invest in a bunch of them if they're gonna warp or something after a few cycles.
Hopefully, the quality of the container will make up for the difference in price, but I think 4 of these will last 5 times long than glad and ziploc containers of similar size.

Those are all I have ever used for agar. The dozen or so that I have have 6-8 cycles on them (not a ton I know) and seem to be holding up ok so far.

Yeah, I saw a microwave tek for agar (not recommended) that used these containers. They seemed to have good luck with them and no issues. I imagine not having to snap the lid on will reduce some sort of amount of air circulation in a SAB as well

Hey Doc,
I'm a n00b so take my opinion well... as n00b opinion.
Yes they work! I mixed them up with a GE hole and unmodified as well.
As with anything these are my personal pros and cons. Pros.
Multiple uses- If you like them you will probably get many uses out of them Easy to find at Targe'
Cons Bulky Higher lip may be harder to get to agar but probably less prone to contamination Condensation- A little more than I like but I usually pour it out. Difficult to see whats going on inside for a newb like me.
I'd say give em a shot!

Thanks for the replies, will be making up some plates here shortly, it's been a minute since I've been able to do anything, Life has been chaotic for the past year.
My first choices are some natalensis that I received from a kind soul here on shroomery as well as some cambodginiensis.
I am excited to get back into my studies as well, the Panaeolus should start fruiting soon. I bought a few different stains to make slides, as well as some sulfuric acid for spore studies. I also have some spore prints from grass and dung dwelling Panaeolus that I received from various locations. My expectations are that they will germinate for me, but they may need to be rehydrated. I've used a soft agar to get some my older prints to germinate in the past. So, I am assuming that the spores are being hydrated by the extra water in the agar.
I don't know about anyone else, but I get excited about mushcult, the way a Clean jar of mycelium smells, the feel of proper field capacity of a subtrate, watching spores develop all the way from spores on agar to a tub full of beautiful fruit. Then taking those fruits and dissecting them, learning about their life cycles, taxonomy is fascinating.ðððððĪŠ

Honestly, who is here if they do not feel the same! âĪ
I'm from the UK, might you have a link for these screw tops? I have just got my hands on some glads (previously just used 1/4qt jars for plates), just whipped up some plates with the glads this evening and I'm very excited to get some transfers on them but the screw tops sound much more durable ð

ASDA might be the closest thing that the UK has to Target, not sure.

Indeed it is, yet Asda doesn't stock for us mush heads like target does unfortunately, and target don't ship internationally last I checked. Thanks anyway though, I might be able to find someone selling some on amazon etc.

yo, just wanted to say i also can vouch for the screw top ziplocks. they have been my most consistent plates (i've also used "holy grail" containers & am currently trying out reusable no pour glass petris ((it's not going great))). i use them with a GE hole covered with 1-3 layers of micropore tape bc i didn't realize at the time that i could just leave the lids slightly unscrewed. i've used them since i first got into agar around 2 years ago & have only had to replace the tape on a few. i think these will be my daily drivers unless i start pouring petris
like atomsplit said, they are a bit bulky in the pressure cooker & annoying to see into, but you're not using pasty plates for agar porn anyways
-------------------- you're not the first to set foot here, just another =================================== i love glass petris & you can too!! posts i constantly refer back to new to mushroom cultivation?? read this!! ===================================
