Growing in Bottles

Is there any disadvantage to growing in bottles?

I read the following online but don't understand why bottles cant be mixed, can't you just shake them after inoculating?

"The colonization period for bottles is significantly longer than if using the bag method. This is because mushroom grow bags can be thoroughly mixed after inoculation- unlike bottles. An abundance of widely dispersed inoculation points in the bagged substrate leads to faster colonization."

I'm a noob here, but I've definitely had trouble shaking grain jars effectively. It can be hard to break up big chunks of mycelium, especially if you let them overgrow a bit (oops). I'd imagine you could mix a grain bag more effectively (more break-up = more inoculation points), even at 50%+ colonization.

Edit: I see now it looks like you're asking about mixing at initial inoculation. In that case I have no idea and am also curious haha.

I'll give mixing it and using the normal method a try and let you know how it goes.

I wonder if they mean mixing it is too difficult on a mass scale?
