Happy to see the site back up. I haven't checked in awhile, when did it come back? Anywho,I can confirm as well that the season in western pa Pittsburgh area is definitely popping. I started finding them in mulched areas about 3 weeks ago and the natural habitat has been fruiting the last week and half. Going to check after work today and see if any morels are up along with new ovoid spots. Good luck everyone and nice funds shroomhunts.

Hopefully this wet stuff brings out the microclimates that can last long enough with enough wet stuff to have a decent hunt in a 9 or so days. Its a 9 hour drive to my spot so I can't just go repeatedly like I used to.

It likely doesn’t do anything. Vitamin c or any acid will decolorize the blue oxidation product but it’s not preventing the oxidation of psilocin that occurs during bruising. It just hides it.
Vitamin c probably does help preventing oxidation in solution , but bruising is an interaction between psilocin and enzymes in the mushroom and an antioxidant won’t have much effect on enzymatic processes.

Could be but there are other things that can cause wood to be that color.

New to ovoid hunting. Does this look like the right habitat? It's a nature trail in MD that runs along a small river and has some creeks branching off. Lots of box elder trees here and woody debris as well. However, I have not seen any mushrooms (of any kind) the last few days I have been here, other than some massive dryad's saddles on a fallen tree trunk today, and some mica caps a month ago. It will rain a lot the next few days so is it worth coming back later? The soil is absolutely covered in thousands of cicada dirt mounds, so I don't know if that affects things. Here are some images of the area: _________________________

Yes, they fruit in super dense clusters but due to no light and poor fae they usually get mold before the reach maturity, only have a tiny window to grab em before they are shot

I don't wanna get too specific, but it's along the Ohio river.

No reason not to go look though. Just wait for some rain.

Totally depressing. Rotting celandine is revealing the few pathetic fruits that have managed to pop up this year. Supposed to rain all day today and nothing. The season will be a total bust if we don’t get rain this week.

How widespread is the celadine problem in that area, I don't hunt areas with celadine in the spring because it's an absolute plauge.

There are no celandine free areas. The shit has almost completely died off in the past day. Moldy gross mess.
In other news. It’s happening.

The second photo does not look like ovoid mycelium but a blue-staining ascomycete fungus that turns wood blue or green. They're really cool.

Shroomhunts you get celandine free areas? Wow, lucky you out in Pittsburgh. I assumed it had become invasive in the whole state.
I'm in the same mess as Koods...no areas without it that I've seen anywhere within 100 miles of Philly. It dies off all at once and just melts onto everything...nasty.
