Are jars that are 95% colonized ok to use in monotub?

I always wait until they are fully colonized, but im on a bit of a time crunch. Everything else is fully Colonized already, but I have a few stragglers that are almost there. Normally I would just shake them, but I figured I’d ask. Thanks!

I wouldn't, those sterile uncolonized grains are just asking to be contaminated out of the jar. Also stalling can indicate bacteria as well. Idk if its stalling, idk how old they are.

They look like good healthy jars, maybe pop em in the fridge until you get back.
They would finish in like 2 or 3 days if you shook them up nicely. At room temp I mean.

shake em and it will finish in 4 days. Dont shake em may be another week. Assuming you don't have some wacky lid that will contaminate if you shake it.

What kind of lids would do this?

foil covered with a coffee filter like when you use a kitchen cup lol. Or any bush league filter setup that isn't properly seated on the lid or something.

When they are that close to fully colonized, I believe a shake could really hurt the mycelial network. May cost you more time or shock the jar to death.

That is 100% not the case at all I promise. If it doesn't recover that means bacteria/contam and you saved yourself. If shaking killed a jar you wouldnt be able to spawn. lol.

Thanks for the advice people. I just went ahead and shook them, I’ve done it before they seemed to turn out fine. I don’t think it’ll kill the jar and hopefully there isn’t any contamination

This isn't correct. If the spawn is healthy shaking it will just speed things up. If it doesn't recover within 48 hours its bad spawn.
