Took a break and got a new pc with a pressure gauge and knock on wood, everything has been great so far.
I also use micro pore tape on top of my jars, ive never used polyfill for cult.
Micropore tape is vastly inferior as a filter compared to properly applied poly. Polyfill filter failing is 99,99% user error, a loose poly filter for a lid is as good as no filter at all. If a non believer had one of my poly'd lids in his hand they would now that stuff is the real deal.
I don't know what these flies and their maggots can do but if they can burrow their way through a ball of tight af poly they could probably do the same with anything. That's what logic tells me but I haven't experienced anything with maggots so I don't really know.

you could of pced that millet bugs and all it would still colonize. happened to me with weevels but the grains were almost hollowed out.
I agree with this, I have seen visible weevils before and they never caused any kind of issue post pc.
I will give the mp tape a try this jar run and see what happens, good suggestion.

Im not saying your lids arent great man, just for me 2 layers of tape is good and easy.
Hope you figure this out soon.

I am open to trying various options now so it's more tape, tight stuffed poly and soon I'll be going back to oven bags and unicorn. I've been meaning to go back to bags since I stopped using them when I stopped growing oysters but don't want to go into that with dirty methods either.
If after this next batch of test jars I still have the same issues then my pc will be the one being drop kicked out the door.

I also thought the 1 hour PC time seems low. I go 1.5 after a healthy venting and my pc is half way up the jars with water after a cycle.

I even considered changing back to sorghum which is all I used when I commercially grew oysters.
I'm trying not to change everything at once just incase I still have issues and can't isolate the cause to one issue.
