Hey ash! I would get plain agar agar. You're more flexible with recipes when you get each ingredient yourself imo.

If you scroll down on that page there is a link to this recipe page:
Agar recipes
Im sticking to agar agar and light malt extract until I get things dialed in.
It's simple and you get less debris floating around your plate.
I recommend a media jar 500ml the same as Bod' recommends. The pouring lip helps in that sab.
Have fun!

Nutritional yeast.
Ummm the basic recipe I used was 10g agar 10g light malt extract 500ml water.

I tried yeast but the one I got didn't dissolve well. Not a big deal tbh look at my noob thread for plate pics. The yeast I got was a pita.
Save your $ for two 500 ml media bottles. PC ING one sleeve is ok for me but I rather pour 2 sleeves in the future. Pc run for 2 jars and anything else like tools ftw.
Hope that halped.

Yes. 1 bottle is fine but since I'm a newb it took a couple of tries to get the "recipe" down for 20 plates. Not as easy as I thought it would be.
I think my first pour I undershot it by 4-6 plates. So it's probably wise to not follow Bod's 400ml water in his tek to the T.
I may have measured 450ml to hit 20 plates 100mm x 15mm
A lot of tek writers are really good at what they do so we have to take that into consideration.
Hey tiptrippy hope you are gewd!

No. just unsleeve them in your sab. They are already sanitized sterilized

I've poured petri where there was quite a bit of condensation. It was enough to roll down from the lid onto the surface of the agar.
About a month later & even wrapped- condensation and water on agar are both gone

Its your first pour in a sab. They most likely wont come out as perfect as you would hope.
I think you will be ok. Just remember to wrap the plates carefully INSIDE your sab when and if you decide to wrap them.
Im a newb. I hope my contamination rates will get lower with the more practice and time I put in.
