Why does the top vermiculite layer of my jars keep getting contaminated?

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I’m a new grower. I’ve had two successful grows so far using pf tek but as of recently I keep running into this problem. This is the second time an entire batch of jars has had the same green mould contamination on the top vermiculite layer. I don’t know why this keep happening as my spores are from the same source as my successful grows and my technique hasn’t been altered (at least in any way that comes to mind).
I make a substrate from Verm, brf and water, add the top Verm layer, wipe the rim, seal the holes with tape and cover with foil, steam for about 2-2.5 hours (I’m a bit paranoid), let sit to cool inside covered pot for about a day with foil and tape still on them (might be my problem). Then I inoculate in a still air box that is sterilized with Lysol wipes and air spray (along with table surface). I use gloves and I torch the tip of the syringes between each jar.
I suspect the reason for this may be that the top Verm layer is getting wet somehow and that’s what’s causing mould to appear there, probably coming from outside the jar and entering the holes (one of my jars has 5 holes and has the worst, one with 4 smaller holes has the least.) Has anyone had this problem before and is there anything I’m doing wrong? Thanks.

If you're sterilizing it and running into this problem consistently, I'd be willing to bet the spore print/syringe has contaminants in it. Even if it's from the same source as the previous grows, it's still a high possibility that happens from even the best vendors ime.
Usually you can just get ahold of customer support and tell them that while you were looking at them under a microscope you noticed a significant amount of bacteria and they'll usually send you a new print/syringe.
Hope this helps, sorry you're running into trouble.
edit: oh, after reading your post more thoroughly, I think you're probably just steaming your brf for far too long. you're killing off healthy nutrients that the fungus needs to grow. Follow the tek, stop trying to make up your own rules when you don't know what you're doing.

I started having this problem really badly as well, Ive switched to grain mostly now and I wasnt able to figure out a fix for it myself. Sorry I cant be of more help but Id suggest testing your syringes on agar before wasting a bunch of grain.
