Too late for casing layer?
    #27285289 - 04/28/21 03:04 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I could use some advice on how to handle this tub. This is my first APE grow. The substrate in the mono tub took a long time to colonize but its finally there. I was a little indecisive on the casing layer and wish I would have put one on. I have taken the bubble wrap off so the surface has dried out a bit than how it appears in the photo. Is it too late to apply a casing layer? What should my next move be, fruiting or casing? I need some help, thank you kindly!!

Throw the bubble wrap away and never use it again.
Apply a thick casing layer.

Hahah never heard of bubble wrap before but in all seriousness from what I know PE requires special casing layer containing peat moss as it likes to create mutant blobs I’ll link a good post for information on this.

Ape doesn’t need a casing layer like regular PE.  Just a top layer.  You can put a top layer on whenever.. I like to put a thin cv layer on when knots form with varieties that take longer to pin that aren’t pe

Give APE a good top layer at spawn and dont ever offend her with laying shipping materials on top again. :mad2:

Thanks! I really appreciate all the feedback. I got on reddit for a hot min because the site was down and I kept getting all this advice on bubble wrap, which I have never heard of before. Using it totally ruined one tub, Im lucky this one didn't mold as well. Ill apply a top layer! Thanks for the link and advice!

That`s what reddit is known for.
Maybe there are some talented growers hanging round there,
but if you need help, better stay here.
You`ll always get a bunch of possible solutions.
And noone would have told you here to do that bubble crap.
Everything works in some way, but you can have it way easier,
and that`s just wasted time and bullshit, keep things simple.

Hope you can save that tub, and keep on asking here
