small GTs veils already broken

Hi everyone. My first grow and I have a question. My GTs are very small with very small caps and the veils have already broken. I didn't want them to turn into mush so I harvested the ones with broken veils. The largest cap is about the size of a quarter but most are dime-size or smaller. Most have very chunky stems. Most are not taller than 2". Not what I expected. Don't even think I could do a spore print off these tiny caps. I know I should have low expectations given that I'm working with a multi-spore grow but is this issue solely bad genetics or am I doing something that is stunting their growth? They're growing in 6 qt shoeboxes in CVG. Also, When I finish harvesting the first flush (probably tomorrow) do I always dunk and soak my substrate in order to try for a second flush?

Other than being MS like you said proper field capacity has a large influence on fruit size as well. Too wet, small fruits. Too dry, small fruits.
Ensure you aren't saturating your substrate as it's an easy mistake for anyone to make.

Thank you for responding. I kinda panicked lol. I had perfect field capacity. Perhaps could have misted my pseudo-casing layer a little more upon spawning to bulk but I'm going to chalk this up to w

Too wet sub and low FAE: Dwarfed fruits, fuzzy feet, stunted growth Too wet sub and high FAE: Large shrooms, properly developed and fast growth
when your sub is @ field capacity you can afford lower fae than what you'd have to give at a soaked sub.
Generally the more water you have, the more fae you are obliged to give them. The organism really DOESN'T like keeping water in its mushrooms when fruiting, it needs to pump it out to have them grow big. Thats my observation.
I used to have this problem too
guess what. the substrate was way over field capacity. Bad

Thank you. Really appreciate the insight and guidance. I'm pretty sure I had field capacity dialed. It took an aggressive squeeze to get a few drips out of my CVG. I did witness fuzzy feet. If I understand you correctly, I likely need more FAE. The only other thing I wonder about is the air temperature in the room. It got down to 64 degrees a few times.

Lower temps can give shorter but fatter fruits. But as long as your sub surface and shrooms don't dry out, more fae is never a bad thing
