Cloning a pin from bacteria comtamed sub?
    #27285206 - 04/28/21 01:23 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I can't upload to shroomery, all the pictures I take keep saying it's too big  but here's what I'm working with

https://ibb.co/Gp9KGKS

This sub clearly has a bacteria problem. I took out the sub from the tray and moved the plastic back a bit just to take a look and the bottom isn't even fully colonized, nor are the outer sides, and the mycelium is extra thick and stringy in those areas. But I got a good pinset for an MS grow. Any reason to not clone one of these? I know cloning pins works great, wasn't sure if cloning from a contaminated tray would somehow fuck with the genetics or something.

I clone from bacterial substrates regularly. Just make sure you get the mycelium clean with enough agar to agar transfers before going back to grain.
