FLOWHOOD FAIL tek

Hey everyone.... so while shroomery was down I decided to embark on my first flowhood build.... I did a 24x12 box with a hepa mini pleat from fungi perfecti and Dayton 2 speed 1TDT7 wired on low at 409 cfm.... I flipped it on today and in some places it would bend the flame, others it would blow it right out... one of the holes I drilled to mount the motor isn’t being used cuz of an error so I’ve got a small hole in the top of my box, is this possibly what’s giving me the inconsistent air?? Here are some pics of my lighter test

Any and all insight is welcome... I just wanna play in laminar air 🥺
-------------------- Hope I can help

Plug that hole and block off part of your intake, the air flow is too fast.

Yes do as my esteemed colleague inski has said. You can use strips of duct tape across the intake side of the blower to dial it back. Up to 80% can be covered. Gorilla brand is quite strong.
The hole must be plugged up too because your plenum isn't even with a big hole in it.

Indeed and Indeed
Also, throwing prefilters on top of one another until the flow is what you want will work. Gorilla tape can do that as well. It will also preserve you filter longer (which the whole in you box is not helping with at all).

Nice to meet you. PS. All the alphabet soup groups just met you too. It's generally understood that posting face shots isn't the grandest of ideas. I'd erase it but you do you boo. Glad you got that sussed. What'd you do?

PS I fixed the whole problem by starting with my hole problem ( lol wordplay) soo I got the bolt in and tightened to start, also this is the pre filter I originally intended on using,
it was like a 13-14 pleat and it was washable so it wouldn’t need replacing... since I needed to slow down the air I went out and bought 3 of these guys I removed the original KNN filter I had in since I noticed a huge difference between the 2 filters and just put one of the new filters on for now....
And lastly ( not sure if this played a role or not) but, my box was built a little bigger than my actual dimensions so I could install and remove the filter as needed. Here’s what it looked like before ... didn’t think this was a problem seeing as how I made it airtight with some framing around the front but thought maybe it had something to do with it... so I just bought some 6$ A/C weather seal ( just some 2x2 foam) cut it to size and made it tight as possible.....
And then when I flipped her on and sure as shit is passed the lighter test with FLYING colors!!! That looks Exactly like 45 degrees to me!! Also only 1 pre filter was needed, didn’t have to cover the inlet on the intake or anything.. I was overly excited seeing my calculations and time invested payed off... this was done by pretty much searching through shroomery and a lot of dedicated time...Big shout out to all the guys who gave me info and help on this and my mentor so to say, he’s taken me under his wing and showed me the ropes.... ( I’ll ask if I can put his name up but he knows who he is!)
