Are these spawn good/not ?
    #27282710 - 04/26/21 01:28 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Can someone (hopefully a TC) tell me if any of these look bad and should not be spawned to sub?
Thank you.

I wouldn't hesitate to spawn those jars

Spores to grain?
They all (specially the fourth pic) look a little off to me. Probably a little bacterial. I'd spawn them but would not G2G them. No promises that they'll do well but I think you'll get fruit.

Thanks for your reply.
None are from spores. Some are from agar some from lc and some from gtg.

I don't want to speak for verum but I think they meant you should not risk using these jars for further grain to grain transfers because of the potential bacterial contamination

Is it because I would be potentially spreading the bacteria to multiple new ones?
My intention was to put each of these to one bag of grain and then that bag to a sub (66 qt tub).
If this would be not advised then I would have to mix each to a small amount of sub and probably fruit in a bag since I don't like to mix spawn from different sources in one sub.

Yes. That is exactly why.

Is it WBS?

So if the intention is for each to go to one bag and or that bag to go to a sub would you do it ?

When looking for this type of advice, it's good to give as much detail as possible (without writing a book no one bothers to read). At minimum Type of grain and how it was inoculated. Part of my confusion is not having known that some are popcorn and some are wbs. I've never tangled with popcorn so I'm not going to be much help IDing those.

The wbs jar i spotted looks like it may be a little sketch or maybe just a tad dry. I'd suggest shaking them all up and watching them recover. If they are really getting back to going on the second day and finishing up on the third to fourth, I'd g2g them. If they aren't recovering well, we'll find out and you'll save yourself some work.

They may be fine.

Sorry, I should have given more info. They are in fact all WBS (I checked) but they were not all done at the same date. Some are from feb 3, others from mar 3 and mar 4.
I will shake them up and see what happens.
Thank you for your help.

When in doubt, this is honestly what you should do. That shake at 100% speaks volumes via its recovery.

Indeed.

So, another factor comes into view. The spawn is old as shit. That changes things too. I'd shake em.

So I shook them up and now it's been three days. Here is what they look like.  I would assume that the first 6 have not recovered. What about the last (single) one?

I believe that means all your bags would've gone to shit. It's possible that you prepped your wbs dry and those or old as shit. That could potentially lead to them not bouncing back but still being clean. I don't think so but it could be possible. There isn't a chance in hell I'd waste time dumping those into bags UNLESS I was desperate for some magic and that was my only option.

You can always open one up and smell it, but even then, you have to know what to smell for and even then it'll only tell you about that jar.

I wouldnt spawn any of those jars.

Crack one open and take a whiff, see if it makes you gag.
