No, not the music!
How much does the average 3 bedroom house cost to buy/rent where you live?
Here, Oxford U.K:
To buy ?250,000-?300,000 To rent ?800 per month

Well I live the DC metro area and your average single family house (3 br, 2 bath) sells for about 300,000.. with the mansions starting at 700,000-10 million. The only place more expensive in the US than here is beverly hills. Don't move here. About the cheapest you can rent an efficiency apartment is $700/month, most 1 bedroom apartments start around $1200 a month. I think if you rent most houses they go around $2000 a month if you're lucky.

shit. I was paying 700 a month once to *share* a 4 bedroom house with three stupid people that I didn't like. So essentially I got a bedroom and bathroom for 700 a month. I gotta move.

House price inflation in the Uk is ridiculous. My parents bought their 2-bedroom house for ?10,000 in 1976. It was worth ?60,000 in 1990, ?120,000 in 1997 and ?270,000 in 2002
To even contemplate buying a one-bedroom flat where I live I would need to earn ?32,000 ($56,000)!
At the moment I am sharing a 3-bedroom flat and paying ?270 a month which isn't too bad. I'd have to pay ?650 to rent my own place.

Whoa! Talk about inflated prices! Here in Tennessee $120,000 would get you a NICE house. And they rent here from $400-$1000 a month.

But you could buy 6 houses here for that price, I'll bet! Cali real estate is notoriously inflated.
