Bulk Substrate Contamination

Hi,
It's my first time transferring Psilocybe cubensis b+ grain spawn to bulk. Here's a picture of a sample:

It looks pretty suspicious. Should I try fruiting it anyway?
The main sample is ~8L, with 2.1L water, 2.1L grain spawn (no signs of contamination), 1/3 of a dry block of coco coir, 1L vermiculite, 30mL gypsum, 30mL CaCO3 (crushed shells), and 217mL earthworm castings (to provide nitrogen, etc). I added boiling water to pasteurize and left it overnight. Should I have boiled the mix for longer? I got the idea to add boiling water from this post, but they didn't account for adding worm castings which would have way more contaminants.
Thanks heaps!

if you add nitrogen sources or highly contaminated ingredients like worm castings, it's important you pasteurize properly. adding boiling water is not going to cut it. I only do that for CVG. but I would def fruit that sub. it looks a bit suspicious yes, but it's contained within the jar. so I don't see any issues with that. crack that lid open a bit and see what it does. you're getting knots, so you could expect some fruits.

Exactly what I would say. It's knotting up like crazy, let her rip. You'll see fruits very soon.
Next time, try using just coir and gypsum. It's really all you need.
With a pure coir gypsum sub, you only really need to bucket tek it. I've even used pure coir without any pasteurization at all. Not that I'm recommending that, just to make a point is all.

I see, that's an important lesson. I've just opened my 8L container and it's pretty disappointing:

I guess I should throw it out?
At least I've got this fruit:

Sweet lady Trich
Tests show subs actually seem to do slightly better with tepid water hydrated coir. Coir is all you need, and i have personally found additives to result in diminishing returns. Not only that, but shit like black kow and worm whatnot generally also cause contamination.

Yeah, it's just a thick blanket of trich now.
However, the jar is actually going surprisingly well! Some of the knots are fruiting. I made a dumb mistake to not cover the bottom of the jar with black tape so now I'm getting fruits like these growing down to the bottom:

Should I cover it up with tape now or would it be too late?

Tape won’t have an effect. The climate is better there so that’s where they are growing. Unless your trying to change the direction. Then tape my help the other ones that haven’t grown yet.
