I'm about to get back into the swing of things. I think I'll do some ziploc grows for ms and testing clones before spawning to the big tubs. Thanks for the super cool write-up, fahtster.

Made up three of faht's ziploc baggies. The oldest bag (10 days now) was built 5 days before the other two. There are some baby mushrooms forming but they're all side pins, at least halfway down the side of the cv mix. The casing is almost 100% covered with mycelium but no pinning on that surface. I'm not experienced enough to diagnose the formations on the top of the casing. Kind of spiky-looking to me.
One BR30 6500K LED bulb is shining down on the bags. 12 on/12 off.
For a method like the ziploc bags, where the sides of the bags are getting light, would you be concerned that the first shrooms are side pins?
Might that indicate they want more/less FAE? Water? Light? Just wondering if the mushrooms are trying to tell me something.

Do you have extra bag where you can just pull the bag away from the sub and let the fruits mature on the sides? It happens to me all the time too… sometimes they just develop where they want to.. pf redspore loves to side pin no matter what I do, for example

thanks, faht -
The bags are still taped in the corners as per your original instructions. Could remove the tape and free up a little space.
The pins are pushing against their confinement with enough force to create abrupt little bumps in the plastic. I'm impressed.

I don't want to dilute this thread with dumb questions about my specific situation.
However, I'm reading some threads this morning that say to stop misting when pins begin to form. And maybe open the bag for passive FAE?
Are there some general rules of thumb for the ziploc method as pins begin to form?

I would like to commend you on your talented ability to capture these images.
There's no doubt that these images aren't your normal point and shoot.
Very nice control of your lighting. The gray background was a nice choice.....

I just keep the bag end folded over until the pin set comes in and then pull it up once it’s in.. might have to dial in the amount of holes depending on your climate.. there’s lots of condensation so I don’t have to do any misting on my end

I pull them up and then push the sides in on the top a little and then push down on the top and it keeps them up.. I can take a pic after work. But the holes should provide enough passive FAE

Turns out it’s incredibly hard to get a good pic of a clear bag but you can kinda see what’s going on… basically, I push in the top sides and then zip it up and then push down on the top of the bag.. it makes folds/wrinkles in the short sides that support the bag flap

Pretty excited about this Gandalf sandwich baggie.. the 2 XL zipblocks coming in behind it if the same culture should be nice

Lots of zipblocks about to flush out

Thanks! Yeah, I had a rough time with peu.. I haven’t seen it blob much.. maybe it’s going the way of regular PE and ya have to case it.. blobs are definitely fun to look at tho lol
You positive that’s peu and not regular PE?
