Why does this have to be so much more practical than my heavy duty nonsense why!
Nah your sandbags are practical.. I just do smaller grows because of the space constraints I had. Now that your link is bouncing around some monotubers will give it a whirl.. it’s one of the first things they’ll see in the op too so that should help get the word out.. hard to dismiss your results

You see, I’m thinking if you have a less than ideal culture lying around, rather than top-fruiting I’m thinking the Fahtlock (it will catch on….) is more the way to go. It’s the same principle but not only are you quarantining it in its own bag, you’re giving it a larger substrate to fruit on and the FAE is highly customisable via the needle pokes in the bag! I digress…..

I would totally agree that a Fahtlock FC is much better than top fruiting a jar

That's what I did with these gyms. Put some bacterial spawn with some coir in a sandwich bag. I had to fruit it in my mini-FC tho because the bag was a little small. Didn't think it would even grow!

This is day 5. Thinking of pulling the bags up for fruiting tomorrow even though no visible pins yet.
The mycelium looks super rhizomorphic. Is that fairly normal? Otherwise they look to be coming along nicely.

I think it really depends on the culture.. some are more rhizomorphic than others.. as long as you got holes in it, should be good to go.

Yup, used the needle from a spore syringe I had laying around. Not sure if that’s the same size you mention in the guide, but they’re placed all around the bag and doubled up down near the sub surface.

My first round of bags is beginning to fruit. I fucking love this idea. I used a 1:1 ratio in 1gal bags. Next time, I'm going to try to split a quart of grain between two bags. I've been using cheezit and trisket boxes with the sides cut out to hold the bags in shape as they colonize, because they are free. I used my exacto knife to poke holes in the bags. I like the "stand and fill" bags, many snack food boxes(and I do like to snack) seem to be about the size of the bag.
My pinsets look really weak, compared to what I see on here. I assume this is because you guys are working with better genetics? I just shot some spores into jars.
