I had 2 jars ready to spawn but only one shoebox.

Not sure I got the fold right...that was hard for me to see. And I haven't poked any holes yet, rh currently sits at 21 so prolly just start with none for now and maybe poke a couple in the morning?

You don’t want to seal grains up in a bag without any ge.. I’d at the very least unzip the zipper an inch or they’ll smell like rotten apples by tomorrow

I figured there'd be enough air in the bag to hold em over. But I'll poke a few holes now.  Thanks Faht!

I love this idea, next time I'm at dollar store I will get set up to do these (it will cost me all of $2).  I currently grow with Sterilite shoeboxes, then tie a small garbage bag over top to fruit.  And I love my shoetubs.  But this is very cool too!!

Hi, I am a total noob so I hope it's OK if I ask this...

This approach really suits me because it seems so hands off once it is set up.

I read the whole thread and I want to make sure I am doing the right thing.  I have a few brf cakes that are fully germinated.

Below is my understanding of the basic process:

1. Prep the bag - needle holes every two inches but double that at level of cakes
2. Put the zip locks in the tupperware with about 3 inches of perlite (it should be watered down and drained first, yes?)
3. Birth the cakes, dunk and roll.
4. Put the cakes on either a lid or tin foil barrier in top of the perlite.
5. Mist the inside of bag / top of cakes and close bag
6. Put it somewhere with good light and temp

Is that about all?  Thanks so much for any help.

Before I came across this thread I spawned a few bags to ziplocs. This was a 2 gallon. I folded the top and bottom of the bag under the cake and sterilized a scalpel and made 2 slices in the bag and covered with paper tape for gas exchange. It fit nicely into a shoebox. It started pinning when I was out of town. To fruit I just cut the top of the bag off. First flush was 270g wet if I remember right, minus a couple grams of verm stuck to the bottoms. This was from a tissue sample from a bag, I was told it was PE but it doesn't look all that phallic to me.

I've got a few bags colonizing right now using the Faht method so I can just use the bag as the fruiting chamber. I'll post some pics at some point. I'm digging the ziplocs so far. I just had a montotub contam so I think I'm going to stick to smaller sizes from now on.

Faht killin it as always :hatsoff: love the thick boys!

Been using ziplocks for when I have some questionable spawn, cause it pains me to throw out colonized grain. Heres some APE that was super bacterial but still threw out a few peens.
