So this doesn't happen all the time but every couple threads I load into and read when I get down to the reply box it's out of whack. Here's a pic to show you. I'm on mobile using Chrome and it actually fixes itself if I turn my phone sideways and back again. Not a huge deal to me personally but just throwing it out there.

I keep on getting that, too. Refreshing the page seems to work for me.

Hmm, does that still happen if you opt-in to the responsive layout beta?

So I opted in and if I use regular mobile site it's fine but if I force desktop mode even opted in it seems to happen even more, like every thread.

So if I'm opted in it's all good now. If I force desktop mode it doesn't do that but the reply box looks like this. Is still happening if I'm opted out though.

Sorry if this one has been mentioned. I didn't read through the other comments in this thread.
You can change this in settings. I have mine set to 1 min instead of default (3 min I believe?)
Thanks but where's settings? How come this isn't standard anymore?

Some of the members who I know are trusted cultivators don't have the tag under their names but I know they exist because other members can see it. This is happen on mobile and desktop versions. Damion5050 and Pastywhyte are both not trusted cultivators when viewing their profiles from my login.

Big_Dub, thanks for pointing that out! Looks like those gaps occur when the box on the left with the username and avatar and stuff is taller than the box with the actual post text. In those cases, there's going to be some gaps somewhere but I can maybe adjust their location so it looks more natural. Also, I'm still pursuing a more streamlined display for threads, which eliminates the left frame entirely. That would solve this problem at its source.
B H O, the Trusted Cultivator and Trusted Identifier tags only show up on posts in the relevant forums. Specifically the Trusted Cultivator tag shows up in Getting Started, Mushroom Cultivation, Advanced Mycology, Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms, Mushroom Grow Logs and Pictures, Mushroom Cultivation Archive, and all its subforums. The Trusted Identifier tag shows up in Getting Started, Mushroom Hunting and Identification, and Mushroom Grow Logs and Pictures. I think that explains why you don't see it sometimes, but if it's still not appearing somewhere it should please let me know!

Hey,
This just started happening tonight:
The icon that flashes when my journal gets a new post won't disappear like it usually does once I've read all recent posts.
PS: Thanks for the autograph.
Edit: It seems to do this for only one specific user as far as I can tell.

Huh, that's so weird, I'm sorry for the glitch! As far as I know that little journal indicator has been working pretty reliably for years. I don't see anything obvious that would be causing that, but I'll keep looking. Could you clarify one thing for me please? You said the indicator isn't cleared once you've read new posts in your journal. But also that it only seems to happen when one particular user posts. That gives me the impression that it is cleared at some point, for you to notice it happening with one specific poster. Am I misunderstanding? Are you clearing it manually somehow? Or is this bug more nuanced than just "the journal flasher won't ever clear"?

For sure, sorry I was unclear.
It gets stuck when this particular user posts. So I get the notification and the head over there. I read that user's posts, go about looking at other things, and it's still notifying me of a new post, but it's the one I've already read. I've tried going to the post several times to clear it. It only clears when a different person posts and it goes back to working as usual. So if I check the second person's post, it clears like normal. Then gets 'stuck' again when that first person posts again.
No need to apologize, as it doesn't bother me much. I just thought you'd want know. It seems as though a few posts up another person mentioned they had spacing issues, more noticeably with one member in particular, which is also the same member related to the journal icon issue for me.
It's been over a decade since I did server side coding and web work, but I seem to recall that on a Drupal server I ran ages ago there were similar refresh problems with users that had different privacy settings. If I'm remembering correctly, there was a snippet of older code that wasn't refreshing, much like this, causing similar problems. I'm not sure how you've got this page set up and if it's all fetched from the same section of coding or not.
My other thought, but probably less likely, is I use a VPN that I rotate now and then and maybe depending on how the data's fetched, it's getting confused. I don't think that's as likely though unless it's a hell of a coincidence.
I bring up the user profile coding only because this user has recently changed their privacy settings and thought that might help you pinpoint things a bit.
As always, love the time and effort you put in to the site. If you'd like me to do some tests or brainstorm it a bit more I'm happy to help.
Have a good one!
Edit: I'm on the mobile layout. If it happens again I'll switch to Desktop View and see if it lingers.
Update as of 1:10PST: The user that triggered the refresh issues responded and did not use quotes within quotes as before and the glitch did not occur. Another difference is, instead of going to my journal and clicking 'jump to first unread thread' I clicked on their name directly from the community page.

Heya. Both on mobile and on desktop threads with new responses arent becoming bold text. It just looks like I've read all the threads, cant tell when someone has posted a new response unless I look at the last poster or go into the thread.

Like how the one sticky thread is bold, none of the other threads do this anymore when someone posts something new in em.
EDIT: I think u fixed it

The word "mycelium" does not live up to the spellchecker's standards like the word "spellchecker" does. Seems odd being a mycology themed forum...
Maybe that is just on my end...
