Dude I found 3 complete empty shells last weekend! You looking in flooded plains too? I feel like they got caught in a flash flood and drowned.

Makes perfect sense. I guess some animal scavenged the remains.

It's not quite Psilocybe season in my neck of the woods, but there's
plenty of wildlife still out and about.

lowland copperhead

favolaschia calocera

pseudoscorpion

bird-dropping spider(Arkys curtulus)

Terrible pic.  It’s a screenshot from a video.  Thought I was taking pics and was actually taking a video.  Haha. Walked right by it twice before it came out of the brush enough for me to spot it.  I seem to always stumble upon copperheads when I am checking spots.  It was close to 3 feet. Pretty thick too.

I think that may be a leech on the poor little newt. It wasn't moving very quick, but I thought it was just the cold. Might be that parasite is making it ill.

On the theme of colorful birds (wood duck):

Found a patch of fiddleheads and some ramps today. Found some wood nettle poking up; probably my favorite.

Ostrich fern fiddleheads:

Not much for mushrooms - I'm watching for the dryad's saddle to start popping.

Found a small turtle and spotted a fledgling crow hiding in the bushes on my walk today.
