That sucks. All the states I've fished you also can't leave rods unattended, but you can certainly troll fish or passive fish on the shore with rods in holders.

I've fished in about eight states and Minnesota was the only one with a one rod limit.
Regulations about not leaving a rod unattended, and not having the rod in your hand, are two different things.

Well I've moved on to fishing multiple rods and most of the time I'm not holding any of them. I use kahle hooks now, they can set themselves pretty well. I've had pretty good results. I'm mostly only after big fish now though. But even small trout and Croakers I use as cut bait hook themselves.
Not the way I grew up fishing but I'm having pretty good results. I got this last week at the jetty in Freeport. I caught a 3 foot+ wide sting ray the week before that. Never ate stingray before but if I get the chance to stock my freezer with it, I'm going to.

With my face against the floor I canβt see who knocked me out of the way. I donβt want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, Iβm too busy being calm to disappear. Iβm in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. I was targeting sturgeon in April on the Columbia and Willamette rivers in Portland. I spent about 4 days going to different spots and trying different baits an techniques, always fishing from a packraft and never the shore. I was using a medium weight ugly stick about 6 foot long with a Penn squall reel and 65lb braid, well suited fo large fish! Leader was 60lb fluorocarbon on an egg swivel weight and circle hooks..
I tried several store bought baits with no luck. I'm not discouraged thou. I think what I need to do is catching my own live bait with a cast net. Fish tend to be more interested in live bait rather than dead, frozen bait. When I get the chance, im going to try fishing closer to the boneville dam or towards Astoria. I know it might be suicide try to catch a sturgeon in a one man packraft, but I gotta try. Trying to be like my hero Jeremy Wade.
