I really enjoyed playing FPS on PC only years ago: Far Cry Unreal Half Life (my favorite) Halo
Then I sort of took a break. Haven't played in years... Now I just have a mid-level core i7 business PC and a Steam account.
What would you play if you were me? a. If no upgrade b. If upgrade with no boundaries.
Thanks, (has this already been asked a hundred times?)

a. Counter strike 1.6, half life, unreal tournament, quake b. Probably at least get caught up with the half life series entirely. If I had no limit I would get VR and play half life: Alyx, but that requires a very powerful computer to run it properly. As of late, fps's have kind of stunk, but I think you would like insurgency, arma3/dayz mod (*not* the SA version), pubg, etc. If you're behind on a lot of titles there's plenty to choose from. There's just a lot of bad fps games but I think you would also like far cry 3, maybe 4, crysis, newer unreal tournament games, quake 3, and new doom games...

Can you be more specific? What i7 do you have and what video card? Your answer could determine a swing of 10 years on what games you can play that are good.
The later Far Cry games are amazing.
Assassins Creed Black Flag is awesome. (though its 3rd person not first)
The battlefield series is mostly pretty good and spans like 15 years or something, so you can surely find one that will run.
Some of the later wolfenstien games are pretty good. Doom as well.

As a casual player I am never sure how exactly to judge graphics performance. I don't have an add-on graphics card.
I chose: "Lenovo ThinkCentre M93p Business Class Desktop, Quad Core i7 4770" because it supports hardware accelerated graphics that offloads processing from the RAM for my home security system. But unsure if that helps gaming....
Probably I should go on a benchmark site and see how it stacks up. I forgot to mention I have never played any team stuff, and really just interested in playing against AIs.
Steam games use my graphics, right? I mean, it's not just cloud computing with a video feed.
Thanks, This really helps!

That system can either use the onboard intel built in video, or has options for both AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards. Go to start menu, type in dxdiag and run that, then go to the display section and post what video card its using.
The older Far Cry games should run ok on it even if its the built in intel.
