Ythan said: A few years ago I had a raccoon discover my cat door and come live in my basement. During the day he just liked to sleep on a garbage bag full of insulation and at night he'd go out. He immediately figured out the kitty litter and only ever pooped in the cat box. He was a really nice low-maintenance roommate and I took to leaving out water and cat food in his little corner. Eventually he stopped coming around. I like to imagine he found a nice girl raccoon and moved into her place to start a family and they're living happily ever after. I know it's dumb to let a wild animal live in your house like that but he was very polite and I have no regrets.
Epic love.

Just get a live trap, they're like a big cage and you can usually find them for around $40 or so, maybe more. Raccoons are smart but they're greedy too, just put a little peanut butter on the trigger plate and you'll have a new cage-pet.
Just please don't forget to check it daily!

I've trapped a shit ton of raccoons. The two best baits I've ever used are canned Jack Mackerel and marshmallow fluff.

I've had to deal with this before and it's no fun. There's a chance that by going up there it will find somewhere else even though it didn't seem afraid. They hate light and noise so get some lights on up there. I've seen them move out the same night I put a light near the "nest". It may be a momma or soon will be so she's looking for a quite, dark place that isn't disturbed
Good luck man, there's no super easy way to deal with that

Buddy of mine had a raccoon in his attic and he decided to keep the thing as a pet
Treated it just like he treated his dogs

I haven’t heard anything tonight. It was raining pretty hard last night so maybe it was hanging out inside to get out of the weather.

Its likely tunneling thru your walls as we speak. Either kill it or make friends with it b4 it undermines ur framing. Coon collapses are very common out in some the more rural areas.

Make peace with the coon, invite it downstairs into your living room to share your home. Or else, call a humane pest removal company ASAP. The insulation can’t be good for it

They will fuck up your roof too and that will either cost a lot of money or a shitload of hard work.
Like I said, and sorry for y’all being sentimental about the animal, but the best thing to do is to kill it ASAP. imo
Also like I said, I’d just shoot it

You need to call catch ‘n release, dude. Or get some help and do it yourself. Maybe you can engineer a trap yourself if you don’t want to kill it?

It's just your imagination- you're going crazy and imagined everything.
Did anyone else say that? This thread is TL/DR
Did the Racoon start to talk to you too>?
