And if or when this gets approval, it will be the start of the massive crypto bubble of 2021.

We're in the bubble already.

Actually not, almost every technical and cycle indicator points to nothing that resembles euphoria or overbought territory.

The 2018 top truly resembled a bubble, we're not even 3 times the previous top, that's nothing for Bitcoin cycles. Do you know your Bitcoin history, or are you just looking at price at this point?

Weve been in a bubble for a good 3 months, more like since the last halving. The question now is how far can the bubble stretch, especially if believing in the narrative that "institutional investors buying into the space" is changing this market cycle. Even then, a billion dollars from Tesla or 2 billion from MicroStrategy aint shit in a bucket worth 1 trillion+.

This is, IMO, much more interesting that what most have posted here.

The inflation obsession is, to my mind, a weird holdover from the 1970s and massively over-hyped as  concern. Negative interest rates I understand as a tad more problematic, but still they're far from heart attack territory. In the case of both inflation and negative interest rates, the obvious hedge is to lever up, assuming relatively low borrowing costs and fixed rates.

But I think you touch on the real reason for crypto: liquidity in odd situations. Moving money for reasons that are at least in the eyes of the state, dubious. But users are almost certainly paying for that functionality. Market makers and others will assuredly take their cut in such a system.

You're not the first to come up with that conspiracy theory and you won't be the last. It usually comes from people that don't understand the history of crypto and people that feel they missed the boat on the massive gains.

Could you sound any more wet behind the ears? That's a serious question, BTW. I'm not sure if you could sound wetter behind the ears.

The skills needed to put this stuff aren't typical and the people who have them are very likely to be very, very well paid for them. Besides, very few people in and around big money things aren't playing an information arbitrage game. Simply put, I'm guessing the herd celebrating crypto at this point hasn't thought much about what could be wrong with it and that it just might end in tears. It is weird how little folks on a psychedelic ('they open your mind, man!') board are looking beyond the typical line.

I'm still going to ask: how seriously has anyone looked at the possibility that this is all a big Rube Goldberg designed to benefit a select few???

BTW, I first bought when BTCUSD was 20...

Dude, btc (and most cryptos) are open source, meaning that basically anyone can take a copy of it and check for hacks, exploits, etc.... You can also query the blockchain and make sure that it is indeed a decentralised database... so just do your own research to decide if it's the right investment for you - the data is all there

Is that a complete list of things that could go wrong? I'm pretty sure it isn't.

Realize this: big finance, big gambling, etc. are all games that are put together where the house wins. Given the recent run up, this is the time where smart people or people who question common assumptions (shroomers???) should ask if the big, tough questions.

Realize that asking big questions might be good for your bottom line.

Thanks. A lot of what I'd hope to get across is, at a high point you should be thinking your hardest about what *could* go wrong. It's probably the time to be fearful, not greedy.

I'm super glad you have taken some profits. I think if people are sitting crypto accounts that are multiples of their initial dollar investments, it might make sense cash out enough to be ahead in dollar terms. This is especially true if you have any high- or variable-rate debt in dollars that the profits could payoff.

OK...so it looks like I could buy ADA (Cardano) as a New Yorker for the first time EVER, if I so choose through Coinbase Pro.  LOL at the plunge from 1.88 to 1.277 on Day 1 opening.  Glad I wasn't a holder for THAT little - 22% misadventure.  Not sure I want to own any, but it's nice to know I can.

Yep, you missed it Nature boy. I missed a chunk of the spike too. Had most of my ADA in Uphold which doesn't have a sell "order" function so I just had to sell when I woke up at $1.42. Wish I could of sent it all to CB Pro beforehand and planned it better. Looks like the seconds after tradable on CB it spiked and sold off.

I hope it works out well for you! I'm disgusted with SKL. Came in late to the party cocky and spent 5K at 0.75 thinking I'm a genius cryptologist. Fucker has been lingering around 0.70 ever since. Considering taking the loss and GTFO.

I did that with XLM a while ago, and I sold it all at a loss at 40ish cents. XLM, it's a nice project but it just stopped moving weeks ago and I couldnt deal with it. Moving out was well worth it so far. I think it was the XRP shenanigans and I'm seeing every coin with an X in its name has slowed equally as crazy as that sounds

It's not a loss until you sell.  Sure, every coin or project hits a stagnant patch.  Right now, BTC is tanking (56,500) from damned near 60K earlier and it's taking pretty much everything with it.  But a rising tide will (eventually) lift all boats.  You just have to wait for the tide to come in!  Patience is key.

ALGO  seems to be looking pretty good to me right now, especially with an extra 6% apr for holding it on coinbase.

Anyone have any negatives or positives they would care to share concerning this particular coin?

Right but BTC eventually goes up it's 79.4 of my portfolio. Alts are much more volatile and aren't guaranteed. Don't get me wrong I'm not slamming alts I love them as a portion of my portfolio I'm just not certain SKL will take a gain eventually at the price I bought in at. At this point I'd be feeling much better if that 5K we're spent on BTC even currently. Nevermind I'm bitching but making money nonetheless. Thanks for the encouragement though still hanging in there for now.

I am a big fan of algo, I think the tech and team behind it is great.

However I think its a little over bought right now.

I'm planning on buying as a very long term hold once the bull market ends and the price crashes

In the mean time its been a fun swing to play on

Ya I searched this post and your the only one who has mentioned it. I picked some up at different prices today between 1.21 and 1.24 buying more if it hits 1.1111 while I'm sleeping. However I wouldn't count on the price crashing anytime soon because that 6% apr could be making it super attractive to larger investors wanting to dip a big toe into the crypto game, possibly why you consider it overbought, and also why it's still holding strong. It definitely has the accoutrements in place for making a long term investment look attractive.

I'm going to keep buying; whenever it dips below 1.25 I believe you're getting a good value. Its already back over 1.26 right now.

I know what you mean.  It's tough to know that had the money been placed elsewhere it would be working harder for you.  I faced a similar situation with XLM.  I bought a small amount at 0.420 - a price which it hasn't seen in many days let alone made me any money.  So I doubled down at 0.38 for a smack-even 0.400 average, and it's 0.401 and trending up as I write this.  When BTC pops, XLM also tends to rise.  When that happens I'll make a handful of bucks and get out "a winner" with maybe $100 net profit.  Small potatoes, but it will keep my track record intact with a profit on every trade made so far since February 1, 2021.  That's more important to me that the 100 bucks.

I'll just wait 'cause I'm a hardcore, obstinate and competitive motherfucker, and the tiny amount of actual money invested is utterly inconsequential.

Some of these alts, namely DOT, SOL, XTZ and UNI are all tightening up rather nicely.  This is the type of action I like to see, the formation of high bases to provide a higher average cost basis among active market participants, which in turn can give more staying power for continuation and follow on buying if the range breaks out to the upside.  If DOT breaks above $40, I would expect some pretty nice follow through given its very orderly sideways consolidation over the past month on the heels of its huge move from the two months prior.  BTC and ETH are setting up fairly nicely as well, but the aforementioned alts are showing stronger technical patterns, at least for the time being.

DOT - got
XTZ - got
UNI - got

:smile2:

Despite BTC being fairly stable towards the Euro, my alts tend to do some climbing.

OMG frequently does nice things too.
