Website power drains

I have a question..
All my internet usage is done via a smartphone, i use an oldish iphone with up to date ios. There are an increasing number of websites that clearly chew through my phones battery at a rate of knots that is both frustrating and rather suspicious.
The shroomery isnt one of them, to be clear.
I can watch hours and hours of YT clips and my battery percentage hardly moves. But if i view a realestate webite my battery percentage starts depleting like a digital clock. I watch it count down before my very eyes. So to negate this i have to plug my phone into a charger.
What is this all about?
Its been happening for a long time now, my phone also gets hot while it happens.
Is my phone compromised?
I thought it could be, and maybe some crypto miners have found a way to harvest extra power by making people charge their phones while browsing these power sucking websites..
Or maybe im being tracked and they are stealthly using my cameras and mic to spy on me haha.
I've always had a good immagination!
But seriously, what gives?

Well no one is spying on you, that's for sure. It's a strange problem, i don't know what's causing it, have you tried switching to another browser, maybe your browser is not working properly with your device. Did you try the usual shit to reinstall a browser, clear it's cashe etc
I'm not saying you're imagining shit, but its very strange some sites are working fine and others drain battery

Yeah it is strange.
I feel like a target of some sort.
This is the only online site i post in.
It has not helped but rather enhanced my overall general suspiciousness of things.
I'm thinking about ditching this phone and going back to using a brick and a laptop, like the good old days.
I havent done what you asked, i dont know if its possible, i thought safari browser was default with all iphones. I dont know much about tech. But something is using my processor alot when it needn't be. I empty the cache often, only use ingognito mode, duckduckgo search engine, all location sevices off, no siri, only have 3 downloaded apps. I've tried to make my phone as private and secure as i can and maybe that annoys 'them' 'someone' so they try harder to trace me lol
This is how my brain works! ^^
Crypto mining is a power hungry enterprise, china mines 2/3rds of it from cheap chinese hydro power stations. Or something along those lines. Likely unrelated. I just been seeing it in the news lately.

it's the bad coding of the site see Poorly coded sites drain batteries

Yeah i think it actually has everything to do with the ads that are displayed. Even that page you linked to above used 6% in about 30 seconds and was jittery so had to close it without reading the full article. Thanks though!
