DIY Monotub Bandsaw Harvester 1

Greetings fellow DIY'ers,
I am in the process of building this contraption and I'd appreciate if anyone has experience that would help.
I will have another board set on top through those bolts to contain the blade that runs along bearing, with one circle (not bearing) being a wooden circle (1.5inch hole saw) with gasket sealer coating to be super glued to the bolt and driven by a drill.
I'd also considering ideas on a small motor if someone has the technical knowledge to tell me what will work. Otherwise it will be drill driven.
The blade is 56". The opening for the substrate will be approximately 14x8 (see pen lines), I'll stick some little feet on too.
The bottom right hole is a slider to loosen and tighten the blade.
If you have nothing to suggest please kick back and enjoy the diy project.

When they legalize mushrooms and there are 40000 square foot mushroom Farms with rooms full of Manos the Harvest this thing will really shine . Although by then commercial production of silicide cubensis mushroom will probably saddle on some other grow method. Are you doing enough monotubs to build a bandsaw Harvester or is this just some diy or die fun? Which hopefully don't have the strees of that many monotubs and you've actually I don't know you are considering using it as a microgreens harvester and I don't know a pallet dismantler while you're at it or hopefully if you haven't seen the pallet dismantler designs maybe you can derive some inspiration from that specific machine go check pallet dismantlers out. holy moly bro I love to see a d i y project but I also like to see DYI project be extremely useful to their creators keep us updated on how it's being used and stop keep chopping Chapo.

Hey groo you nailed it saying microgreens harvester. It's all for fun.
This idea already exists commercially but who wants to spend 14k when you can spend $100.
Except mine doesn't have multiple fancy convayer belts but nothing we couldn't work on later.

Heck yeah!! 1 more thing, I saw the bearings my instant thought was those are really tight turns and I don't know if the bandsaw weld will appreciate those radiuses. Another fun idea might be instead of making it one Long Blade you could just use a Sawzall get a 56 inch long blade or braze a few blades on and together or just cut Sawzall holder into a bandsaw blade that way you can ultimately use it as a weapon if necessary not necessarily Sawzall I was thinking scroll saw spiral blade but either way reciprocating motion instead of one long piece of Steel motion don't forget about back n fourth instead of round n round. And if you want to go off topic a little bit I would be curious as to which method commercialpsilocybe cubensis would settle on.

You make a good point I may end up changing the design to two large circles like regular band saws.
I was hoping this would work with less profile.
Having experience with reciprocating saws they're just too jumpy imo unless you had a track (?) Which is beyond my skill set (low-medium), and also has a blade probably four times thicker which will certainly damage fruits more than the bandsaw blade.
I'll keep ya posted.

So I redid the design as per your suggestion groo.
Little more figuring out to do. Got about 14 inches of space between the about five inch wheels.
Cannot raise the circles up much more because the blade will already sit at like 3inches above the surface.
have to make a bracket to afix the circles. Mhm mhm.
Good call groo.
This was as far as the first draft got.

Have to get it lined up better, notch out for the spinning action bolt head to sit in the table or angle grind the head off to let it spin freely, notch out space for the drill to grab onto the bolt to spin it, and a notch for the blade to run under the table (I put little legs on it). Maybe I'll finish today.
Considering maybe a wood glue to create more of a flat V channel for the blade to rest in. Maybe an angle to the table and a substrate guide so the cut fruits fall to one side.
Hope y'all enjoy.

What about a dremel for the driving force? They have the flex attachment and speed control.....

I guess I picked drill cause I already have one but I wouldn't doubt a dremel could possibly work.

I just figured dremel would have a lower profile and could be out the way, wouldnโt limit your pulley mounting possibilities, and you wouldnโt have to hold drill trigger, cut it on to desired speed and harvest away!

Is this project still being worked on? Have you considered adding some plastic on the plywood (in between the bandsaw wheels) to make sliding the blocks easier?

Nah, I never completed it. Honestly verum out did me and repurposed an actual bandsaw so if I where to do this I would just use an bandsaw and modify it.

Wouldn't you need to add a 5th wheel for tension, wear n loosening of parts
-------------------- Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
