We found these tonight... I'm in NW Alabama
found growing on decaying wood and moss bruises blue bluish brown gills white stalk that bruises blue beige cap with lines starting at the top going all the way down kinda umbrella-ish shaped cap purplish-black spore print after 3 minutes smallish sized mushrooms growing in patches of 3-5
Sorry no pics... my digi cam won't upload on this computer
THANKS

The bruising blue seems to be a good indication, but what do you mean about those lines "going all the way down" the cap? I don't understand that, or at least the way I imagine it, I have never seen a mushroom like that. Are the lines arranged radially (in a circle) around the cap?
The spore print must be profuse if you got it within 3 minutes. If you touch the gills spores must be rubbing off. Not much will actually fall in 3 minutes onto the paper, its just the spores rubbing off the gills.

the lines on top align with the gills on the underside of the cap... the spores came from pushing the cap down on the paper... the print is purple-brown.

Thats not how you do a spore print. You cut the stem off, and lay the cap gills side down on the paper(don't push on it), cover up with a cup or bowl, and let it sit for several hours, then check the print.
As far as the mushroom goes, does it have actual gills or does it have a spongy type surface?

Is there any sort of color change on the cap or is it all one uniform color?

heh... In the name of science... save about 3 or 4 caps. If they are what you've described, then you've found yourself Psilocybe caerulipes. A *very* rare mushroom that is active. I'm sure there's going to be a few people who want prints from this mushroom as this is only the 3rd or 4th time I've seen it found in the 3 years I've been at the shroomery.
If your mushroom bruises blue, was found on wood in the southeast, and has a purple brown spore print... I'd say you've found a winner. Be sure to note that it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to be 100% sure of any ID without seeing pictures.
If you decide to eat them, you make this decision on your own. My say in the matter is that you shouldn't eat them untill we see a picture. As far as dosage goes, no clue... they're so rare I don't know that there's much data on them.

we ate them all, but we only looked 45 minutes tonight in a pitch black forest... we are going back tomorrow during daylight (it's a legal place). i will most definitely have some prints and the like for trading. i weigh 125 lb and i ate 5 whole shrooms and my BF who weighs 180 lb ate 6 shrooms (they were kinda small). this is my FIRST TIME EVER TO TRIP ON SHROOMS. i really hope i'm in for a good trip! PM me if you are interested in prints and what not.

I don't know how wise it was to eat them without further identification, especially if they were picked in the pitch black forest. But, It sounds like you did find caerulipes, so you should be ok. I hope you and your boyfriend had a good trip off of these rare shrooms! Make sure to take some prints- it's easy and worth waiting a few hours for the spores to drop. Also, can you describe the habitat/ weather? Congratulations on your find!

no i'm from alabama... i only ate 5 grams, didn't feel much except for the peak and if that was the peak off only 5 grams, i can't wait to eat more. there were more there in the forest so we are going back today to get some more for spore prints and what not. the trip peak off 5 grams was nice... extreme body high

it rained here in NW Alabama about a week ago... we were on a nature trail through the forest. temp here is around 88 degrees... we found them growing right along side the trail on felled trees and right next to them. there's a fertilizer testing company near this place... wonder if that has anything to do with (like within 1 mile)

If IT TOOK UYOU FIVE GRAMS THEN i O DOUNBT THEY ARE P. CAERULIPES WHICH IS MODERATERLY POTENT AT 1-2 GRAMS DRIED.
MJ
WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU ATE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SCANNER THAN i SUGGEST YOU TAKE YOUR SHROOMS TO KINKOS, SCAN THEM AND THEN COPY THEM TOP THE KINKOS HARD DRIVE AND THEN SEND THEM TO THE SHROOMERY WHERE YOU CAN POST THEM.
IT IS REALLY NOT COOL TO EAT ANY WILD MUSHROOM BREFORE YOU HAVE IT IDENTIFIED BY AN EXPERT OR SOMEONE KNOWLEDGABLE IN THIS FIELD.
REMEMBER THE DEADLY POUISONOUS SHROOMS DO NOT AFFECT YOR SYSTEM UNTIL BETWEEN 16 TO 24 HOURS AFTER EATING THEM.
MJSHROOMER
Oh yes, also. It is extremely rare to ever find these magic shrooms int he wild. They are common in man made environments and rare in a natural habitat.
And if you did find them in the wild, it would be a few shrooms and no more than that.
