Depends highly on the species and amount of psilocin in the mushroom. Shouldn't be longer than 2 hours or so.

This is so true. Liberty Caps barely blue at all...But Cyans are so potent that they often blue before even being picked. Check out this photo from last season...

No, those are Psilocybe cyanescens from Seattle.

Here is a bluing liberty cap. I have more images of bluing in caps.

Here are several other similar pictures from last fall in December of 2003, after the first small freeze.

Hey Stymee, Don't you just love those blue green Cyan caps.

Okay, here is one

Yellow + blue=green.

And I have also posted bluing images of many other species such as blue ringere, and P. baeocystis and others.

Seeing all those photos makes me wish it was Novmember again

I like the blue green one...I've never seen green in a cyan like that.

I sometimes find it in blue ringers in the stems and at the edges of the cap. I have seen it many times in Cyans.

Anyway, Yeah I miss the fall.

The mushrooms in the photos posted below already had this bluing in them naturally without human handling. Including the libety cap. So did the baeoys and the ringers.
