Dung/straw mumbo-jumbo
    #2724270 - 05/24/04 06:32 PM (19 years, 10 months ago)

Alrighty, here goes... Shroom cultivation started as a small hobby for me, but I'm liking it enough that I've decided to upscale it a lil' bit and have some fun. I'm planning on buying a 2-4 tier mini-greenhouse thing (like this ) Anyways, I'd be going from a couple random bulk grows every once and a while, to a bunch of smaller ones that I'd be using those 4"-5" deep tin things to case in. Since it'd be hard to spawn straw or straw/dung in such small things, would just dung as a substrate be alright? Pros/cons? Thanks a ton!

I would just case a whole bunch with just verm/coir-peatmoss/lime-oyster! That should be fine for those tin trays.

This is a pic of my very first grow.
out of 12 1/2 pints of brf and one wild print(picked it myself)I got 1 jar to completly colonise.I then took and spawned this jar to straight cow manure(unpasteurized, unsterilized),let it colonise 100%,and then I birthed it,results VVVV

second flush VVV

I actually got four flushes, the 3rd one was 3 shrooms and the 4th had 1.
I wouldnt recomend doing that way,but you wanted to know if you could use straight poo,and yes you can!

Didnt want to jump your thread, but I thought that pics would explain better!

No,That was my first,lol.

I try to use a container that is opaque,if not,I wrap with duct tape or foil.If you use a transparent container, pins form on inside in between your casing and the container-notice I removed my container huh?lol
Lesson learned.
