looking for help on new setup
    #2724300 - 05/24/04 08:44 PM (14 years, 4 days ago)

Because of size constraints, I've switched to a small 12 gallon plastic container for a terrarium. I'm using perlite with a fish tank bubbler. Currently this houses 6-8 cakes. Is this enough room? I fan a couple times a day but would like to fan only once or not at all. I have the bubbler on at all times but no other way for air to escape. Is this bad? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should be fine. You don't have your cakes sitting directly on the perlite though do you? If so, you need to elevate them.

Should be fine. I was just making sure you didn't have the cakes sitting directly on the perlite. Best of luck.

Ya thats good enough, and theres even a way to case it when it is sitting like that, just put verm around the cake and it will form pins...wet verm with h2o2 solution that is!

Fishtank bubblers and airstones do not always provide adequate air exhange.

A bubbler with two lines was more than enough air exchange for AFOAF when he used to grow using a 55 gallon tub and up to 32 cakes at a time.

So a bubbler will be just fine.

As long as the air is being exchanged, the amount of oxygen in the tank will be roughly equal to the amount of oxygen (by %) in the room which contains the tank.
