How to drill a hole through glass ?
#27238736 - 03/05/21 01:07 PM (3 years, 2 months ago) |

Glass is 7mm thick. Hole needs to be very small ~1-2mm in diameter.
I must not collapse glass, structual integrity must be kept.
I tried using needle and a hammer, but needle keeps on bending. I spent many needles. Can't get the job done. I succeeded in that way to reach depth of 3mm.
Help me resolve this.

They do make them that small, they're typically marketed to jewelers: https://www.amazon.com/Assorted-Diamond-Jewelry-Gemstones-Lapidary/dp/B00BRMPPUA
It's not tempered glass, right?

I should have mentioned that I don't want to spend any money on buying anything, but do this using only home and garage items. Maybe to spend 10$ max.
The whole point of doing this procedure is to save money by hacking electrical energy counter system, and i must get through the glass first

1 or 2mm isn't going to work. Glass drillbits are usually 5mm+. The risk of cracking the glass is very real, I wouldn't recommend this. See if you can route your wire (?) around the glass through a wall or so. Frankly I'd rethink this.
What are you trying to achieve and what is the situation exactly?

1 or 2mm diamond bits work fine. Of course glass can crack, but drilling small holes into annealed glass is very common and isn't hard.

Also, please don't try to be a smartass on this thread. I see even mushroom cultivation overlord is here, i mean bro, you could get caught growing mushrooms and selling them, or whatever is your gig, they are ilegal as well.
I don't care about lawful behavior or about getting caught. I will deal with consequences whatever they be. I was being honest, thread is about glass driling, not against any rules. Help me with ideas or don't. Thanks.
That said I'm thinking dentist drill now, for you know, teeth fixing. Maybe I could steal one or borrow from a dentist. Could it be effective against glass ?

Then just smash the glass. Much easier and a rock can be picked up for free.

If you don't care about possible legal issues, have you considered purchasing a replacement wire security seal for the meter? I bet someone has them for sale online that match the ones used by your power provider.

Darn, electricity isn't really that expensive unless you're running indoor grow setups or stuff.
If you're going to steal something you should do it right away from your home.
I've seen dumb motherfuckers go down for less than this.

That's true, but even if I make 100$ a month it would be nice.

No it wouldn't if it costs you more than $100 a month to do it. And it will

How much do you earn in a day there? $10 a month isn't a lot for an electricity connection, I pay $30 a month.
I don't know why you think you are entitled to free services? Did you serve your country for years or something?

Also..
No way would they let prisoners have access to the internet!
I did a few days work at a minimum security prison here in australia installing new pre fabricated units, basically lifting demountable buildings off trucks and placing them into position. I had to hand in my phone, car keys and leatherman knife before i could even lift a finger!
But maybe your country is different, maybe they'll let you browse, and monitor you, see where it leads.

Lol. I'm entitled not to get robbed by them, which is exactly what they are doing in the first place. I will give them a taste of their own medicine.

Government owned company for electrical power supply have counters installed in every household. It's enclosed in metal casing and part where is the counter can be seen through the glass. Guy from company who reads it do that from a meter distance. Now if I successfully get through the glass, I could stop the counter since it is mechanical, not digital. If I manage to drill a hole that small to be inconspicuous, he will not notice any ilegal activities when he reads it.
I already tried non invasive method because I managed to get neodymium magnet, but they were smart enough not to make part I'm trying to stop of metal.
i was going to comment an easy way to drill hole in glass, until i read the reason, so i will not be accomplice to such a lame crime.. electricity is cheap, but the fine for tampering/breaking their box is probably expensive.
..keep trying the needle thing

RenegadeMycologist said: Slight update, i gave up on drilling this hole. Can't be done with house hold items. I managed to stick a needle few times in my retarded finger while i was trying again hammer-needle method. I couldn't get dentist or jewelers drill.
I will elaborate further on this issuse:
Like the guy suggested, i will brake a seal, open the casing, reset the count, then forge the seal to look like no one messed with it. Hopefully i can save some money and hopefully those fucking idiots will not notice. They are the fucking thieves, you have to pay 10$ a month even if you don't use shit, and also they menaged to include state brainwashing television bill inside the electricity bill. For fuck sake. I'm not paying that. Or any other their shit. I don't need their mind control. I'm not scared of shit, and they try so hard to scare everybody via their propaganda. Woods is a place to be.
Also, if i get caught, i will probably be fined around 100000rsd, and one day in prison is 1000rsd. So, 100 days in prison for me. I'm still not paying. It's a matter of principle, I'm in war with these idiots. I could probably get released earlier if i behave good. And i could even get weekend leave. So two months of free food, gym, hot meal, free wifi etc. Prisoners live very good now. Hopefully i will not get fucked in the ass, but i will try to avoid getting caught in the first place.
If they are the thieves why don't you just go without electricity? Or buy an electric generator?
No amount of mental gymnastics is going to put you on the moral high ground here...
And I don't know where you live, but you seem to be conflating prisons with jails(maybe it's different where you are)...but jails are not designed with long term stays in mind, and are therefore much less accomodating, you won't be in much danger of violence or rape, but it's definitely not "very good" living, there will be no gym, no wifi, extremely little yard time, the "hot" meal...will be lukewarm at best, and generally disgusting. You will be cold, hungry, bored, and uncomfortable most of the time...and then there's the noise, oh my god the noise...And you will not only be fined, but be on the hook for damaging the meter.
If you were stealing enough electricity to make this even remotely worth it...you will likely be caught in time.
