on average, the country bumpkins didn't follow the mandate and the city folk will wear one whether they are required to or not until it makes sense not to anyway, so whatever.

“If businesses want to limit capacity or implement additional safety protocols they have the right to do so, it is their business and they get to choose how to operate their business the way they want to,” said Abbott. “Businesses don’t need the state telling them how to operate.”
Wow, yeah I'll bet the businesses that are trying to play it safe at 50% capacity are totally going to have no problem competing with businesses who just decide to go full retard.
It's a race to the bottom!

I respect the businesses in Texas who will continue to enforce mask wearing by their customers.
I also respect businesses who will allow their customer base to choose for themselves.
And if one isn't comfortable with a business' decision (to enforce or not to enforce), then they are free to take their money to a business that is in line with how they feel when it comes to the mask issue.
But I'm fine with the state's decision to allow businesses to now decide for themselves.
Personally I will continue to wear masks out of respect for others...unless I'm somewhere where nobody is wearing one. Then mine will come off.

It’s pretty clear now that the only people who will be filling hospital beds and dying in three months will be people who have refused to be vaccinated. These people will be consuming massive amounts of health care resources because they are ignorant fools. Why should insurance companies pay for people who refuse to be responsible?

Exactly, same for me. I do feel much safer being vaccinated.

Seems to me moderna gives slightly more people nasty side effects
I have 3 working hypotheses a) At all of the vaccine hubs around here, they have some staff and some volunteers. Most volunteers are nursing students, the majority of whom have never give IM injections to a live person. They always have staff giving moderna and volunteers giving pfizer. My guess for this is that because moderna can be re-redrigerated and kept for 30 days, they are concerned about product theft by "volunteers", but since pfizer expires in 6hrs they're not so concerned. Anyway, I see a lot of these students giving the vaccine wrong, using the subq injection technique instead of the IM injection technique. Since they're all giving pfizer, I can't help but wonder if the lower rate of side effects is related to a lower rate of effective immunogenicity caused by leakage of the vaccine into subq tissue due to poor technique/less experience (on average) by those giving the pfizer.
b) a lot of places here got moderna first and then pfizer for some reason. since 1a healthcare workers were first up, a lot got moderna. younger people tend to have more side effects, so the correlation could be spurious
c) that moderna just produces a stronger immune response in more people than pfizer does
