IME, ess do not lack gills but they don't readily drop spores. May not be able to make prints but swabs work just as well. I have grown 2 dozen tubs of the ess with fairly consistent results. Perhaps my success was due to having an exceptional clone. My suggestion for limiting the amount of aborts is to give them max FAE after the pinset is developed.

TW, ATL7, TWC, Braz, Reishi all going nicely. Can't wait to expand the TWC. Hoping I get more chode TW clones. Cleaning up a couple different ones now (just dropped one to grain yesterday, actually) and have enjoyed the variety and size of my boxes/tubs so far.

If he doesn't I will be, assuming mine make it to fruit that is lol. They still need one more transfer before I put them to grain though so it won't be for a little while

Knots on knots on knots. Can’t wait to see what this ufo revert puts out.

Whytegold second flush coming in after an accident.

Ended up with about a pound of oyster so far, better than I expected for the first run with one being Timothy hay

TOC second flush coming in.
My APEU is still chugging along. I have to harvest a few chonkers every couple days. I think I’ll get 1oz dry after I pick the guys in that pic. Definitely got lucky on this, because it came from two pretty bacterial pint jars that I only spawned as a long shot. Got some clones. Looking forward to seeing what a clean shoebox puts out!

Something about them completely lacking gills freaks me out lol
I just treat em like regular cubes. They dont always lack gills but its fairly common in my experience with them. Actually changes the taste a lot

Thanks for the tips. You havent seen anything wonky with ESS in 2 dozen tubs?
Everything ive done with them has been from the same culture, sometimes its beautiful other times its almost like a lovecraftian horror haha.. very sexy when it goes well
Bod put quite a bit of work into trying to stabilize it, he used to work with it a lot and had the same experience in terms of its fickle nature
Its not always gill-less IME but fairly often, maybe 1 in 5 is swababale, the rest are totally smooth under the cap. Even when they are there, they are super shallow

Dayum aka , that could turn out awesome!!! I love ufo and all the other ksss weirdos, but damn ufo can be annoying to harvest and yield wise.. whats the history on that revert? Cool stuff!

I had this guy pop up in a ufo shoebox so I cloned it

Then the clone plate threw this pin, which I put to another plate and went to grain.

Based on the size of the plate pin I’m hoping I’ll get a bunch of big gnarly ksss type shrooms.
