cacti question...
    #2723302 - 05/24/04 04:35 PM (14 years, 29 days ago)

I just wanted to know, what parameters influence on the largeness of a cactus? Intensity of light of temp or whatever? I was surprised to see some pups that were growing nice and large under fluos started to shoot up but get all skinny without majors changements... I think I took them closer to the tubs but like 2-3 cm higher...

sunlight, give them some fertilizer now and then, half diluted miracle grow, or some cactus ferts are fine.

Well I do guess the fluos are good for the cacti, i've got a san pedro who stayed under the fluos all winter he grew fine, high and large... I took him outside now, but I'm scared about the pups being burnt theres alot of sun here and last year I had 3 cacti who had bad sunburn... 2 of them died of it, and these pups are actually the base of the last one I had to cut... oh yeah, and I do fertilize them now and then...

fluoro's work great for me during dormant periods but are shit during active growth.

If the pups start to get burnt shade them off a little, or get some shade cloth to get them acclimated.
