Hey bod,

I'm giving your oat tek a crack.  G2G jars and master jars.  How much hydrated grain should be in each jar?

Thanks

To quote Bod's oat Tek "for each quart jar measure out 1-1.25 cup(s) of oats by volume or 250-315mL

For 10 jars (what fits in my 23q presto) you need 10-12 cups of oats or 2.5-3 quarts of dry oats"

Use 5/6 that amount for the receiving jars

Here's a video of another poster doing g2g

I believe bod is referring to dry volume in tek.  No mention of wet.  Not to worry, will divide what it makes evenly.  Was after more detail like "fill receiving jars 2/3 full, masters 3/4" etc... or something.
Thanks for the link, guy G2G like a surgeon.  Will use this style later today.

Are your oats already wet then?

About 3/4 full for master and 2/3 for receivers will work just fine.

And yeah when I do g2g it definitely won't be as smooth as that guy!

Too cold? [Re: mrtcdgn]
    #27148012 - 01/14/21 03:42 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hello, complete noob question, I searched the forums but cant find my exact problem. My basement is 60 degrees, is this too cold to grow? If so, should I use a tent and heat that? If so how? Thanks in advance to any and all that respond.

Bodhisatta I just wanted to thank you again for all of your contributions and effort. The wealth of info you’ve shared is better than any book I could buy. I’m in the process of learning agar now thanks to you!

Hello, Can I get some replies to my agar question posted in Getting started and The Agar thread. It appears the dye I used detects mycelium and changes color before germunation is visible. I seriously would UTFS if I knew the term for this phenomenem. Thanks a ton

Hi Bod,

I took some photos today of what I believe is cube mycelium growing from spores on agar.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=27222954&page=0&vc=1#27222954

I would love your thoughts on it, it it is mycelium, if the things I circled look like bacteria, and what I could do to get better photos.

Thank you.

Hey Bod. Hope all is well.

Would I be better served posting my n00b cultivation questions in the cultivation forum instead of "Getting Started"? I'm wondering if there is something the matter with what/the way I am asking also.

I think I exhausted all I could find using advanced search to the best of my ability.

The "unique" part of my question relates to how a top cased substrate should look at day 7 (or whatever day you read this from my OP at 6 days). All the pics I see in my searches are of ones that are completely covered in mycelium.... like all shiny and stuff. Mine has this spiky rad looking myc all over. I'm stoked but mildly trepidatious.

It should look not contaminated. Speed depends on spawn to sub ratio, genetics, temperature. Looks good

OMG. I thought this was going to be easy. I wish I could just buy these. This is just too overwhelming. I've never seen anything like it.
