Idk why I didn't just look for the photo

This is what I've been hunting. I think this was put to grain and resulted in one of those 2 trays i posted.
Speaking of, the first one didn't flush again and the second did and I just harvested most of these.

I'm tossing both of em to see if the spaghetti bottom pins do anything. Speaking of...

I got real nats aka, are you happy?

Lol man I’ve literally never seen myc like that with natalensis ever. The best I got was transferring a clone over and over til it was super rhizo but only one layer and stayed flat.
Of course now it’s not doing much. It looks like I might have some side pins forming but that’s it. Maybe I should bust it up and respawn it.

That was a t5 i think.

I think i took transfers from like 10-1 on this plate but i also am just guessing right now. It definitely wasn't easy though
The bottom pins decided to finally stand up. One of these poor bastards destroyed themselves growing up

I am confused, does Nat usually not produce nice healthy Rhizo growth? That plate I posted earlier was T1 from your print AKA. I transfered from a Rhizo looking section and now I have 5 plates of nice healthy Rhizo I went ahead and threw one "Paperclip" transfer into an LC this morning.

Tf is a paperclip transfer lol
That plate just posted is what i normally get with nats. When i started the round of transfers to get that tomentose plate i was avoiding the rhizo growth because when i broke my first subs apart i saw the mycelial cords fusing together to create the overlay. I thought maybe those 2 were related but I'm thinking it might be fruiting conditions instead.
When I spawned these trays i did what i normally do with shoeboxes (i use small totes that only hold 1.5 quarts, so toddler shoeboxes) and left the lid on the let the spawn recover and start its thang. It took like 3 days for the overlay to appear and that's what prompted me to ramp up fae and put them into fruiting conditions, on top of breaking that other tray up into coir
I have 2 more i spawned a few days ago from that tomentose vs rhizomorphic test i was gonna do. They wound up taking the same structure and are most likely bacterial (again, fuck oats) so i abandoned that project for now just to free up some jars. I did however only use coir this go round whereas I've been using manure and straw before. I did a 1:2 and a 1:3 ratio to see what difference that makes.
And thanks sock, I'm just trying

This is the one I was talking about. I’ve never had natal myc look like this, only super rhizo.

I've got a fluffy one like that too. Very curious to see where it goes. It goes on grain next week.

So do you guy think I should be transferring Tom vs Rhizo? The original plate I made had both and I transfered the Rhizo growth.
Paper Clip Transfer is just that. Removing the need to flame sterilize. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27177580

I felt like I got better results with Tom over rhizo, rhizo seemed to give me more overlay when spawned, IMO.

Yeah me too. I only ran a side by side once but the rhizo over layed so much worse.
Exact opposite of what I was expecting to see.

I'm planning to start this run with tomentose. Overlay on the sub seems to start from aggressive rhizo growth IME.

Im in the middle of a substrate experiment and imo it's the grains that cause overlay. I run some ms small containers with different subs and just the one with wheat bran in it acts crazy. (has a tone of side pins) They all have aggressive rizo growth though. I think it has something to do with the extra nutrients in grains. One container with straw /manure 80/20 cased with poting soil has a lot of pins but only on top. No side pins. My suporter account expired so no pictures for now but I'll post them when I'll renew it. I've done a shoe box today with 1 part grain spawn, 1 part wet verm and 3 parts poting soil (strait from the bag). Will see how that goes.

Maybe it has to do with nitrogen content...
