The only mention of habitat in Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World is that it was found near a sand dune. A website says sandy soils and meadows.

I bet it would grow outdoors spawned to beds of straw and then you can experiment with ways to get it to spread from there. Also, you can cultivate sclerotia indoors and then plant them in various areas and check to see their progress.

If you can find a copy of the .pdf file on the internet, P. tampanensis is listed on pages 209 - 210 of Guzman's monograph on the genus Psilocybe.
The habitat is described as:
"Solitary on sandy soil in a meadow. Known only from the type locality. Fruiting in September."
The type locality is listed as:
"U.S.A, Florida, near Tampa, SE of Brendon."
There is also reference to culturing of the species by Pollock on page 210.

I have never hunted or spawned species outside since i live where no psychoactive mushrooms grow naturally. My question is could i spawn a species outside in a damp forest and have it get comfortable in my city so the hole forest can have a habitat of some species, as if it would spread when dropping spores or something?

The mushroom has also onc ebeen found in Mississippi.
This is extremely rare mushroom found only once in Florida and one specimens or so. ALl cultures sold on internet originated with Pollcoks discovery with Gary Lincoff.
Its like COnocybe cyuanopus. I have only seen them four tiems in my life inthe PNW, yet it is comon if I look in its natural habitat.
Sphaghum moss along streams and riverbanks in the spring.

Yeah, it was found in Brandon Florida.
I've looked for that shroom for 5 years, with no luck (hour south of brandon).
Pollock was at a mycology conference of some-sort (out-of-town i suspect) and took a little hike and was blessed with finding it; he obviously wasn't really "looking" for it but still found a single shroom.
It's like mjshroomer said, most likely extremely rare to find.. probably even harder to release it into the enviroment with luck of it catching hold to re-establish itself (?it's probably already still out there growing, just naturally extremely-rare).
I'd like to do a outdoor P. weilii bed of shrooms here in Florida, those things are outrageously potent....i'd look for a newly laid sod lawn, lift up the sod pieces and innoculate, wait for the sod to colonize, let the sprinklers do their trick, and hope for some Weilii's. Those things are simply incredibly potent, and as big as Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms.
Just another idear for ya!~
P.S. Who's got my weilii spores to do this???
