Lawnmower Restoration * 2
    #27213590 - 02/18/21 06:19 PM (2 years, 11 months ago)

I just finished restoring a 1987 john deere 332 and I'm quite pleased and wanted to show it off a bit. It's been quite a project. I bought it from a government surplus auction website called gov deals for $1900. Probably sounds like a lot but in good condition these go for over 4k because they have the 3 cylinder diesel engine.

I feel like Hank Hill! It's going to be a great summer mowing grass, smoking dope, and drinking beer on this bad boy!

Thanks mate. I'm really tickled with this thing. I've wanted one for years. It runs and operates excellent. It was a purely cosmetic resto. I did change a couple leaky hydraulic lines and change all fluids and filters but nothing major

That's the mighty G in the background

Did you check and or adjust the valve adjustment? Furthermore were there grease points on the spindle shafts? Make sure to take off the inner race shield for grease to enter! Such a beautiful resto! Did you paint it in-front of your flow hood!? That shit looks like candy! Do you have a paint booth? Nice man so nice. I love mowers.

Thanks a lot mate

I checked the valves. All in spec. It was maintained by a county maintenance dept that looked to do a really good job of keeping up with preventive maintenance. This county used to have a mower at each separate school and luckily this one was at a school with very little grass and the machine has under 800 hours.

I did pull at the spindles apart when I had them off. I put in new bearings :with inner shields removed) and drilled and tapped for grease fittings. Sounds like we think a lot alike

I painted it in the open air. It looks great in the Pic but if you get real close it has some particulates on it. Doesn't matter this is actually going to be my mowing machine. I'm also going to buy a 10kw generator from northern tool and make a bracket where I can run it off the front pulley. Should make a really efficient generator power plant

If I ever find a good deal on a john deere 455 I'll probably do a serious resto on the 332 and use the 455. Can never find one of those cheap tho
